Gameweek 22 best wildcard
Looking at the Gameweek 22 best wildcard team. Using the Fantasy Football Scout season ticker we can see which teams have the best run of fixtures. This can then aid FPL managers in picking out some of the best assets for the run ahead.
The wildcard gives managers the opportunity to change their entire team for any reason. Managers activate their wildcards for several reasons. Whether that be to target fixture swings or just change their team up, the wildcard can be precious to our planning.
Fixture ticker
We can see from the ticker below, the teams at the top have the easiest fixtures, whilst the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures up to Gameweek 27 (a six match period).
Who has the best fixtures?
Arsenal, Leeds, Manchester City and Manchester United all rank as the top four teams with the easiest fixtures. All four teams also have a double Gameweek ahead. Brighton complete the top five teams with the best fixtures but have no double Gameweeks planned.
Who has the worst fixtures?
Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Leicester all make up the bottom five teams with the worst fixtures.
The best wildcard team
Goalkeepers
Chelsea have some great fixtures coming up and also offer a fantastic budget goalkeeper in Kepa Arrizabalaga (£4.6m). The Spaniard has bagged 19 points in his last two back-to-back matches reflecting his potential.
Leicester’s Danny Ward (£4m) is the cheapest playing goalkeeper in the game and so makes a solid backup on the substitute bench.
Defenders
Manchester United rank fourth on the fixture ticker with a double Gameweek ahead. For that reason investing in the defence could be a good idea. Their standout option is left back Luke Shaw (£5.2m). Newcastle have the best defence in the league and Kieran Trippier (£6.1m) has been maintaining some of the best distribution stats in the league whilst also dominating the defender bracket in terms of points.
Arsenal have the best fixtures in the league up until Gameweek 27. Because of this it could be absolutely vital to invest in them. They face one of the worst attacks in the league next and also play a double Gameweek straight after. Ben White (£4.7m) is one of the cheapest ways into their defence.
Finding a reliable option in the Manchester City backline has been difficult but Manuel Akanji (£5m) played more minutes lately than most of his defensive colleagues. They also have an upcoming double Gameweek so investing in a Manchester City defender could be wise.
Wolves’s Hugo Bueno (£3.9m) is one of the cheapest defenders in the game so releases funds elsewhere within the team. He will sit as the third substitute.
Midfielders
Manchester United have had more shots on target in the last six matches than any other team in the league. Investing into their frontline could be vital and inclusion of the in-form Marcus Rashford (£7.2m) even more key as he is also the standout captaincy option for the round ahead.
Crystal Palace and Leeds lay ahead for Manchester United and both have conceded more shots in the box than any other team in the last six matches. For that reason, it could be beneficial to double up on the frontline with Bruno Fernandes (£9.9m).
Tottenham rank the second worst in the league for goals conceded in the last six matches. Kevin De Bruyne (£12.5m) can take advantage of that as he has created more chances and big chances then any other player in the league this season.
No team have scored more goals in the last six matches then Brighton. Kaoru Mitoma (£5.1m) has been excellent lately, banking returns in his last four consecutive matches and scoring the winning goal against Liverpool in their most recent cup match.
Arsenal are flying as they sit first in the Premier League. With great fixtures ahead, the Arsenal frontline has to be considered. No midfielder has had more attempts on goal in the last six matches than Martin Ødegaard (£6.9m). The midfielder has picked up three double-digit hauls in his last six matches, returning in another two in the same period.
Forwards
Arsenal have scored the second most goals in the Premier League this season so doubling up on the attack could be wise. Amongst all strikers in the league in the last six matches Eddie Nketiah (£6.7m) ranks third for attempts in the box. Nketiah hit a huge 13-point haul in his most recent game showing his capabilities.
Manchester City are dominating most of the key attacking data points this season. A large contributor to that is the powerhouse that is Erling Haaland (£12.2m). The striker is in relentless form and sits as the highest scoring player and highest owned player in the game. Do not exclude him for your team.
Wilfried Gnonto (£5m) could be one of the cheapest and most exciting strikers in the game. Although he is benched due to his opponents strong recent defensive data, he could be a fantastic option moving forward. Managers can bring Gnonto in and out of their starting 11 at their own discretion, even for the double Gameweek ahead if they choose.
