FPL Fixture Focus: Should we invest in Leicester assets?

While some teams have eight games remaining, Leicester have 11 and therefore three Double Gameweeks. These are their best FPL assets.

Leicester form

Postponed matches meant Leicester didn’t play in Gameweeks 17, 18 or 21, which was then followed by a winless five games. March brought their first victory of 2022 and they’ve added two more, including Sunday’s 2-1 success over Brentford.

Currently in tenth place, no side outside of the top seven has scored more often than the Foxes’ 42. However, their 46 conceded is the most within the top 13. Only Liverpool and Leeds have been involved in more goals than Leicester.

Leicester fixtures

Although Brentford, Leeds, West Ham and Wolves have eight matches left, Brendan Rodgers’ side have 11. They have been assigned a promising Double Gameweek 33 and there are two more matches to add, meaning they’ll have three Double Gameweeks in the final eight rounds.

Furthermore, their continued progress in the Europa Conference League means they have quarter-finals against PSV Eindhoven in-between Gameweeks 31, 32 and 33. Should they reach the semis, these will be played in the midweeks between Gameweeks 34, 35 and 36. Things are about to get busy for the Foxes.

FPL assets

For this reason, approach their players with caution. The league fixtures look fantastic for Harvey Barnes and James Maddison but Rodgers could soon prioritise European glory and rotate accordingly. It’s a real shame.

Barnes has three goals and seven assists from his last 977 domestic minutes. The 1,067 minutes (approximately 12 full matches) of Maddison since Gameweek 13 have brought seven goals and six assists. They are certainly Leicester’s prime assets in the absence of Jamie Vardy but may continue to be upon his April return.

Stay away from their defence, though. Leicester have conceded the second-most shots inside the box, with the third-worst tally for expected goals conceded (xGC). Whilst they kept two recent clean sheets against Burnley and Leeds, the latter outdid them 19-7 on goal attempts.

Community chatter

There is one stand-out Double Gameweek 33 team for FPLNick.

But FPLTribbiani believes a Free Hit during that round of matches can cover Leicester without using a free transfer until Gameweek 36.
