FPL goalkeepers: Is Aaron Ramsdale the best option for the rest of this season?

Aaron Ramsdale is one of only eight FPL goalkeepers in Gameweek 30, with promising fixtures afterwards. He can continue his wonderful season.

Fixtures of FPL goalkeepers

Using the Season Ticker from the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area, we can order the rest of the campaign’s fixtures by perceived difficulty.

But maybe this list is influenced by Leicester and Arsenal playing in Gameweek 30 whilst many don’t. Therefore, let’s start from the following round.

Even without the advantage of playing in the Blank Gameweek, Arsenal are still deemed to have the third-best fixture run until the season ends.

Form

Furthermore, the contrasting defensive seasons of Leicester and Arsenal puts Aaron Ramsdale (£5.1m) in pole position. The Foxes have conceded the second-most shots inside the box, with the third-worst tally for expected goals conceded (xGC). Whilst they kept two recent clean sheets against Burnley and Leeds, the latter outdid them 19-7 on goal attempts.

On the other hand, the north Londoners’ 12 clean sheets have only been bettered by three other teams. No stopper has picked up more bonus points than Ramsdale’s 14, as the reverse fixtures of their 11 remaining matches brought four clean sheets.

Other FPL goalkeepers

The fabulous season of Ramsdale has seen him rise £0.6m in price – the most of all goalkeepers. In the meantime, he has the highest ownership both overall (20.9%) and amongst the top 10k (57.99%).

Although the ‘Rate My Team’ feature has Ramsdale with the most projected points until the end, there are other appealing goalkeepers for FPL managers to consider.

Jose Sa (£5.3m)

Wolves number one Jose Sa is also having a great campaign. His 130 points is second-most in his position behind Alisson, ahead of Ramsdale’s 117. Not only that but he hits the sweet spot of having nine clean sheets from the last 18 matches, whilst also producing the third-highest number of saves.

Nick Pope (£5.4m)

Only one team outside the top eight have conceded fewer than Burnley. Their four clean sheets from six matches between Gameweeks 23 and 26 showcases their defensive ability and, as the only team to play twice in both Gameweeks 31 and 33, have a good quantity of fixtures.

Kasper Schmeichel (£4.8m)

Speaking of quantity, no side has played fewer times than Leicester. With a game in Gameweek 30, two in Gameweek 33 and a pair of matches still to be added into the schedule, their defensive vulnerability could perhaps be overlooked in exchange for saves and appearance points.
