Best picks from Liverpool for Double Gameweek 26

Double Gameweeks can make or break an FPL manager’s season. Get the picks right and a huge green arrow follows, get it wrong and it can really harm your overall rank. So who are the best picks for Double Gameweek 26?

Having won their last four league matches, Liverpool are doing their best to keep up leaders Manchester City. They play their game-in-hand during Double Gameweek 26, hoping to close the nine-point gap.

With back-to-back home clashes against Norwich and Leeds the FPL community all want to own three of the Reds’ assets. Most notably star man Mohamed Salah, who has already risen in price three times over six nights.

Underlying Stats

Liverpool players dominate the league-wide attacking statistics of this season. Salah, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota rank inside the top four for expected goals (xG), shots inside the box, touches in opposition penalty area and big chances.

Jota delivered his first haul in a while in Gameweek 25, but having picked up a dead leg in training he was benched for the following match. There could be frustrations with Jota’s minutes moving forward with Mane is back from AFCON, Firmino fit and the arrival of Luis Diaz.

When you add Liverpool’s attack to the poor defences they’re about to face, it looks inevitable that Salah will be highly captained. Not only that but many will activate their Triple Captain chip. Norwich and Leeds have conceded the most shots in the Premier League, with Salah scoring six goals and three assists in seven meetings against them.

Ownership

Jota is owned by 88.71% of the top 10k, which highlights his Double Gameweek prospects. If managers want to differentiate their team then going with Andrew Robertson over Jota could be wise. The left-back has returned at least six points in five consecutive Premier League match.

A defensive double-up with Trent Alexander-Arnold – the game’s highest scorer behind Salah – is very enticing. Especially considering Liverpool have conceded the second-fewest shots so far.

Alexander-Arnold is second only to Bruno Fernandes for chances created. He is a distance ahead of third-placed Kevin De Bruyne.

He also has an expected assists (xA) tally that is almost twice that of the next best (9.14 vs 4.84). There’s a strong case for captaining Alexander-Arnold, as he has out-scored Salah in ten of the last 12 matches they’ve both played in.

Community Chatter – Best Picks

FPL Olympian still prefers to captain Salah, focusing on how poor the defences of Norwich and Leeds have been.

The benching of Diogo Jota has many believing it’ll be someone else’s turn during the two games of Double Gameweek 26, including FPL Raptor.

But not everyone shares this opinion, as shown by FPL Differential King.
