Why the PL fixture release is important for FPL managers

The 22/23 Premier League campaign has come to its conclusion and the excitement in the community for the 23/24 season is building day by day. Because of this, we take a look at why the PL fixture release is important for FPL managers.

Looking through why ‘fixture day’ is important to FPL managers can be really beneficial. Whilst many enjoy their break some could be looking to gain an edge over their rivals for the upcoming campaign and studying the fixtures can be vital.

When is ‘fixture’ day?

Fixture day is on June 15th at 9AM BST which is under 24 hours away. At this time, FPL managers will have access to each clubs schedule for the season ahead. But, why is fixture day so important?

Building your team

When it comes to building our first draft of the season, some managers use fixtures to help them make their decisions. Starting with players who have easier fixtures rather than players who have tougher fixtures can be really beneficial and help toward a good start to the season. This is one of the reasons why FPL managers deem fixture day as important.

Fixture swings

When the fixtures release managers can identify key fixture swings. This means managers can plan a rough idea of how they would like to to use their transfers for the entire season which can then help towards long-term planning.

Captaincy

Captaincy is one of the most important contributing factors towards the success of any given managers season. Mapping out a rough idea of who we will captain each Gameweek can help towards which players we bring into our teams both at the start of the season and throughout the campaign.

Chips

FPL provide managers with chips throughout the season. These chips are in place to help managers boost our rank. Those chips include the Wildcard, Free Hit, Bench Boost and Triple Captain. The fixtures can help put a plan into place as to when we utilise those chips which can then have a major impact on the success of our campaign.

Blanks and Double Gameweeks

Every season the fixture schedule experiences week(s) where some teams do not play and some that do, they are called blank Gameweeks. Due to fixture congestion and Cup football, teams can also play twice in any given Gameweek, these are called double Gameweeks. The fixture release can sometimes help identify when these blank and double Gameweeks could take place.

Conclusion

Fixture release day can be detrimental to FPL managers planning. Not only can it help identify players and teams we want to target at the start of the campaign but it can also help with when to play chips, identify blank and Gameweeks, which players we captain and locating key fixture swings through-out the season.
