Who passed the eye test in Gameweek 24?

We take a look at who passed the eye test Gameweek 24. With a focus on the live matches played so far, we highlight some of the standout performances of the current round, whether they returned in Fantasy Premier League or not.

Underlying stats will always be very useful for FPL managers in their chase for success. However, looking at who passed the eye test in Gameweek 24 could be a huge factor when looking at potential FPL assets to bring into our fantasy teams moving forward.

Bukayo Saka

Arsenal went into Gameweek 24 looking to secure their position at the top of the league after a recent mini slump. Although it was a shaky start, the league leaders went onto thump Aston Villa 4-2. Amongst the standout performers was Bukayo Saka (£8.4m).

Saka looked like the biggest threat on the pitch. The winger was relentless in his approach to cut Aston Villa apart, bursting down the right flank causing mayhem and looking to cut inside on his dangerous left foot. The Englishman’s threat converted into a goal and picked up a six-point return in FPL.

With a double Gameweek ahead against Leicester and Everton, those managers without Saka in their teams will no doubt be looking for a way to bring him in.

Ollie Watkins

Aston Villa gave Arsenal a scare this week. They started better than any team could against the league leaders. Unfortunately for them, after leading 2-1 at half time Arsenal shifted gear and blitzed their way to a huge 4-2 win.

One player who stood out for Aston Villa was Ollie Watkins (£7.2m). The striker put in a brilliant shift. He held up play when his team needed it, spear headed most of their counter attacks and was clinical when it mattered.

Watkins picked up eight points for his goal and two bonus earned. Not only does he play a fixture in Gameweek 25 but he also has great fixtures after that, facing just one tough fixture on the official fixture difficulty rating system in his next eight matches. Some managers could even be looking to bring him in.

Andrew Robertson

Liverpool went into their Gameweek 25 match against Newcastle needing to win. The Reds have struggled all season but showed a convincing performance this week. They ended up taking a 2-0 win against a team fighting for top four.

There was several key performances from Liverpool. One of them was full back Andrew Robertson (£6.8m). The Scotsman was one of the most creative players on the pitch, completing most of his long balls, generating a big chance and providing an impressive three passes leading to shots.

Robertson was great against Newcastle but failed to convert his passing into an assist. Although that was the case he still bagged a clean sheet and two bonus points to hit eight points in FPL. Robertson faces a double Gameweek against Crystal Palace and Wolves in the round ahead. Taking everything into consideration, Robertson could be a top target within the community in Gameweek 25.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Andrew Robertson was brilliant against Newcastle this week but Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.3m) stole the show. The right back eclipsed his teammates distribution. Becoming master creator Trent was back to his best mustering two big chances and four key passes.

Trent’s wonderous passing led to an assist. With the clean sheet he totalled a massive 12 points in FPL with the help of three bonus points. It may be a difficult decision between Robertson and Trent for Gameweek 25 but Trent came out on top this week.
