Who passed the eye test in Gameweek 2?

Looking at some of the players that passed the eye test in Gameweek 2. Without using stats we’ll see if we can identify some key FPL assets that looked impressive in their first fixture of the season. With a focus on Saturdays matches that were shown live on Sky Sports and BT Sports on the weekend.

Underlying stats will always be very useful for FPL managers in their chase for success. However eye test has always been a huge factor when looking at potential FPL assets to bring in to our fantasy teams as well.

Danny Ings (Aston Villa)

£7m striker Ings put on a great performance against Everton. His link up play with fellow striker Watkins stood out. His movement and finishing was top draw. The forward was rewarded for his efforts with a goal after a fantastic spin and finish.

Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)

£7.4m Watkins really stole the show for Villa. His creativity was second to none and even had a great chance to score. His excellent performance overall landed him with his first double digit return of the season for his two assists and three bonus points.

Anthony Gordon (Everton)

£5.5m Gordon did everything but return points against Aston Villa. His turn of pace and drive made him look dangerous every time he attacked. His two shots on target came close but a brilliant save at the end of the game prevented Gordon from getting the goal he deserved.

Josh Da Silva-Brentford

Da Silva really impressed during his match against Man United. Brentford dismantled Man United 4-0 with four of those goals coming in the first half. £4.5m midfielder Da Silva caught the eye with his shot from range that slipped through De Gea’s gloves.

His movement and speed caused United problems. His performance resulted in an eight points return so it’s likely he could be on many FPL managers watchlists going forward.

Ivan Toney-Brentford

£7m Brentford forward Ivan Toney held up the ball really well. His creativity really came through with a fantastic pass that lead to Mbeumo scoring. Toney created more big chances than most forwards last season and it looks set to continue this campaign.

Toney’s two FPL assists and bonus point means that the striker finished on nine points. With great fixtures coming up the Brentford main man could be a great asset going forward.
