Who is the best captain for Gameweek 30?

Gameweek 1 Tips Kane

Liverpool will not feature in Gameweek 30 at a result of their involvement in the FA Cup. This means that the FPL managers who always captain Mo Salah will need to find another option. With just eight teams to choose from we look at the best captaincy options ahead of the Gameweek 30 deadline.

Blank Gameweeks often allow FPL managers the opportunity to be more differential with their captaincy picks. A captaincy pick that goes well in Gameweek 30 could be the difference between a green and red arrow. This means that the pressure is on to ensure that the armband is with the right person. Tottenham’s Harry Kane looks likely to be the most highly captained played in active FPL teams this week.

Harry Kane

Kane has retuned in four of Spurs’ last five Premier League matches. Registering 45 FPL points in that period. The forward has had 85 goal attempts this season, 24 of those have come in the last six Gameweeks.

Kane’s Spurs face West Ham in Gameweek 30, a team that the England captain averages 5.67 points per match against the Hammers. His average points per match rises to 8.83 in home matches against West Ham. Kane has also returned in both of Spurs’ last two home matches against the Hammers in the league.

Carstyy considers Kane to be the best captaincy option in his latest Twitter thread.

Differential captain picks

Son Heung-Min

Son has only blanked once when playing at home against West Ham. Both Son and Kane have scored 11 goals so far this season. Son has recorded seven assists so far, more than Kane who has registered three.

Son’s underlying stats for the 2021/22 season are better than Kanes in all areas. These include, touches in the final third, passes received and goal involvement. Son also has a better expected assist (xA) total than his Spurs teammate.

Son has created 15 chances in the last six Gameweeks, only five players across the league have created more chances than Son has in this period. The South Korean averages 5.64 points per match against West Ham, this rises to 7 points per match in home matches.

Bukayo Saka

Despite blanking against Leicester in the first part of Arsenal’s Gameweek 29 Double Gameweek, Bukayo Saka continued to look the most exciting of Arsenal’s attacking assets. Saka has returned six goals and three assists in his last 11 Premier League fixtures. Since Gameweek 16, only Harry Kane, Mohamed Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo have had more goal attempts than Saka.

Harvey Barnes

Barnes would be a real differential captaincy option heading into Gameweek 30. The Leicester City midfielder is owned by just 3.4% of FPL managers. In his last 877 minutes of football Barnes has returned three goals and six assists, including back to back returned in Gameweeks 27 and 28.
