Who are the best Brighton picks for Gameweek 25?

With two fixtures in Gameweek 25, along with a favourable fixture run to follow, Brighton have become key targets for FPL managers. We assess who the best Brighton picks are for Gameweek 25 and beyond.

Only two players from the Brighton squad have over 10% ownership in FPL. Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez is owned by 17.9% of the game with defender Shane Duffy owned by 10% of managers. This means that that the Brighton team offer FPL managers the potential to invest in some differentials Bahead of Double Gameweek 25.

Robert Sanchez

Brighton’s Sanchez

Sanchez is the most popular pick across the Brighton team, indeed there are only two Goalkeepers in the game who have more owners than the Seagull’s shot stopper.

In Double Gameweek 25 Brighton play Watford and Manchester United, having blanked in Gameweek 24 with Chelsea away at the Club World Cup. This additional training time could be hugely beneficial for Brighton, especially in the aftermath of the transfer window and the loss of Dan Burn. The lack of a match in midweek will give Brighton fresher legs than both of their Gameweek 25 opponents.

Brighton have kept six clean sheets so far this season only six teams have kept more than the Seagull’s have. They have also conceded just 23 goals so far, only four teams have conceded fewer goals than Brighton have.

Sanchez has also made 60 saves so far this season. He has a BPS baseline of 331, only four goalkeepers can beat that so far this season.

At just £4.6m Sanchez offers managers the ability to own two playing goalkeepers, in doing this managers can optimise the Double Gameweek as well as allowing them to play the fixtures long term.

Tariq Lamptey

Tariq Lamptey

Ahead of his injury during the 2020/21 season Tariq Lamptey was becoming an increasingly popular FPL asset. Lamptey has played just 814 minutes so far this season and Potter it seems has been protecting him on his return from injury. He has made eight starts, been subbed off six times and subbed on seven times.

WIth three clean sheets and one assist Lamptey has shown sparks of his former self and therefore ahead of the Double Gameweek he is a player that should be on the radar of FPL managers.

Lamptey is the seventh best defender for expected assists xA per 90 minutes so far this season. He is also tenth for expected goal involvement xGI per 90.

Blank Gameweek 24 could be a blessing in disguise for managers who are worried about minutes for Lamptey ahead of Double Gameweek 25. Lamptey’s minutes so far this season suggest that he is unlikely to get 90 minutes in both matches. However, his attacking potential mean he could be worth a look, especially at his price point in comparison to the other Brighton picks defensively.

Leandro Trossard

Brighton’s Leandro Trossard

Trossard was missing for Brighton in the FA Cup at the weekend as a result of testing positive for Covid 19. Manager Potter suggested that he was hopeful that Trossard would be available to play against Watford in Gameweek 25.

For managers looking to invest in Trossard Potters press conference later in the week will be essential. Trossard’s appeal is partly in his ability to play against Watford and then Manchester United, so negative results will be important.

So far this season Trossard has recorded four goals and an assist. These returns are from an expected goals (xG) of 4.46, an xA of 2.08 and an xGI of 6.74.

These underlying stats that Trossard is the best of the Brighton picks from their midfield options. He is top across their midfielders for xG and xGI. Fro xA he is second only to teammate Gross.

Trossard also has 106 penalty area touches so far this season, this is more than any other Brighton player including forward Neal Maupay.

Neal Maupay

Forward Neal Maupay

Unsurprisingly Neal Maupay is top across the Brighton squad for both xG and xGI. He has returned seven goals from 37 goal attempts so far this season as well as having nine big chances.

The three forward spots have been difficult for FPL managers due to the lack of perceived value for money in that position. Maupay’s seven goals mean he is currently the fifth highest scoring forward in the game.

Of those forward who have scored more goals than Maupay only Dennis is cheaper than the Seagull’s forward. Indeed in the £7.5m and under category for forwards Maupay is second making him a potential option ahead of a fixture against the Watford who have one of the worst defensive records in the league and Manchester United who have kept just one clean sheet in their last six Premier League fixtures.

At just £6.4m Maupay could make one of a number of good differential Brighton picks for Double Gameweek 25. Especially for managers who are then looking to swap to a different forward ahead of Double Gameweek 26.
