Which teams have the best FPL fixtures from Gameweek 21?
Using the Season Ticker from Fantasy Football Scout’s members area, we investigate which teams have the best FPL fixtures after this January FA Cup break.
Focusing on the schedule between Gameweeks 21 and 26 can help managers with transfers, captaincy and chip strategy decisions.
Best FPL fixtures
Brighton
GW21-26 Fixtures: Wolves (h), Luton (a), C Palace (h), Tottenham (a), Sheff Utd (a), Everton (h)
On top of the ticker is Brighton, whose attractive run lasts up until Gameweek 28. Although hampered by the injuries to wingers Kaoru Mitoma (£6.4m) and Simon Adingra (£5.0m), one way in which this could help FPL managers is that it’ll reduce the rotation notoriously deployed by Roberto De Zerbi.
Therefore, set-piece taker Pascal Gross (£6.4m) is an appealing replacement during the absences of Mohamed Salah (£13.2m) and Son Heung-min (£9.9m). He’s created the third-most chances (50) overall, alongside three goals.
Not only that, Joao Pedro (£5.4m) should start more often. The cheap forward has played in all league matches but there has been a three-game and five-game spell of being limited to cameos. But he’s still scored seven times, often from the penalty spot. Just like in the early weeks of 2023/24, both he and Pervis Estupinan (£4.9m) should soon be popular again.
Sheffield United
GW21-26 Fixtures: West Ham (h), C Palace (a), Aston Villa (h), Luton (a), Brighton (h), Wolves (a)
For Chris Wilder’s side, it’s about cheap FPL players who usually stay on benches but could step in for AFCON and Asian Cup absentees.
The Blades have kept just one clean sheet but George Baldock (£3.9m) has started the last three. Midfielder James McAtee (£4.4m) delivered an attacking return in both this season’s wins, whilst forward Cameron Archer (£4.5m) was benched at Man City but racked up a goal and assist in the two beforehand.
Gameweek 24 at Luton may have some appeal.
Manchester United
GW21-26 Fixtures: Tottenham (h), Wolves (a), West Ham (h), Aston Villa (a), Luton (a), Fulham (h)
A potential FPL bargain could be cheap winger Alejandro Garnacho (£4.8m). He’s started the last ten league games, following two goals versus Aston Villa by assisting Marcus Rashford (£8.4m) at Nottingham Forest.
The latter burnt too many managers over the early months, with playmaker Bruno Fernandes (£8.2m) only marginally better. He’s blanked in six successive games, making it 14 from 19 overall.
Another low-priced Man United starter is centre-back Jonny Evans (£4.0m), on a streak of four. It’s also interesting to see which budget goalkeeper starts while Andre Onana (£4.8m) is away with Cameroon, although it’d be a luxurious, short-term transfer.
Aston Villa
GW21-26 Fixtures: Everton (a), Newcastle (h), Sheff Utd (a), Man Utd (h), Fulham (a), N Forest (h)
Meanwhile, a phenomenal 2023 ended with Aston Villa sitting second in the league table. The many returns of Ollie Watkins (£8.9m) are already owned by over 5.6 million managers, as his 20 attacking returns are only bettered by Salah. He’s also joint-third for shots inside the box (52).
Penalty-taking Douglas Luiz (£5.5m) is on six goals and three assists but the appeal of both Moussa Diaby (£6.6m) and Matty Cash (£4.7m) has disappeared. Neither are nailed-on starters anymore.
Strong at home, Villa’s clean sheets are hard to predict but it’s probably worth owning a defender for these fixtures. Only two successful shut-outs have happened since Gameweek 6 but they were against Man City and Arsenal. Goals were recently conceded at home to Sheffield United and Burnley.
Fulham
GW21-26 Fixtures: Chelsea (a), Everton (h), Burnley (a), Bournemouth (h), Aston Villa (h), Man Utd (a)
Finally, a nice-looking run between Gameweeks 22 and 24 could tempt some into Fulham investment. Goalkeeper Bernd Leno (£4.8m) is their most-owned player by far, ranking third amongst stoppers for saves (77), points (71) and save points (18).
Not many others stand out, even with a short-term differential standpoint. Andreas Pereira (£5.3m) didn’t start the win over Arsenal, plus Willian‘s (£5.3m) minutes are usually managed.
Perhaps forward Raul Jimenez (£5.2m) can be bought for squad depth. Without a goal until Gameweek 12, the Mexican now has four from his last four outings.
