Which players are due a goal in Gameweek 7?

Picking out the players that look likely to score in an FPL gameweek is a big part of management. Using recent underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout, we assess which players are due a goal in Gameweek 7.

Recent FPL goals

Some attackers are in great form over their last four matches:

However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product. So let’s look at the players who have met the following criteria over their last four league appearances:

  • No more than one goal
  • At least 9 shots
  • At least two big chances
  • An expected goals (xG) tally of 1.10
  • An expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.30

Due a goal in Gameweek 7

Two of last week’s nine names got on the score sheet in Gameweek 6 and Ollie Watkins remains this time, such has been his level of underachievement.

The Aston Villa man racked up four assists but no goals during his first five matches. With a winner at Chelsea under his belt, Watkins may be hitting form in time for their upcoming strong fixture run.

Having netted at Burnley, Bruno Fernandes is off the list.

Ranked by xG

Meanwhile, the name on top should still be Nicolas Jackson but – by picking up his fifth booking from just six games – he’s already being suspended. He therefore misses Gameweek 7.

There was nothing from Yoane Wissa, Marcus Rashford or Eberechi Eze and the latter is still joint-second for seasonal goal attempts (26).

After being bought by over 1.3 million managers heading into Gameweek 6, Man City’s Julian Alvarez continued the ‘most-transferred curse’. Like Ben Chilwell, Bryan Mbeumo, Raheem Sterling and Son Heung-min before him, Alvarez rewarded his many new owners with a frustrating blank. Four shots were recorded before being taken off in the 57th minute.

Finally, the stats of Carlton Morris are looking good heading into Luton’s Double Gameweek 7. The forward netted against Wolves, recorded a 1.04 xG, takes penalties and faces both Everton (a) and Burnley (h) in the same round of matches.
