Which players are due a goal in Gameweek 27?

Picking out the players that look likely to score in an FPL gameweek is a big part of management. Using recent underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout, we assess which players are due a goal in Gameweek 27.

Recent FPL goals

Some attackers are in great form over the last four Gameweeks:

However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product. So let’s look at the players who have met the following criteria over these four:

  • No more than one goal
  • At least eight shots
  • At least two big chances
  • An expected goals (xG) tally of 1.10
  • An expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.30

Several of last week’s names did deliver some FPL points, headlined by Pablo Sarabia. While many flocked towards his Wolves team-mates Hwang Hee-chan and Pedro Neto, it was the Spaniard who scored the only goal versus Sheffield United.

Meanwhile, Pascal Gross extended his streak of returns to four matches by assisting and John McGinn, without any shots in the 4-2 win over Nottingham Forest, was at least able to set one up.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin had no attempts and disappears from the list, with Anthony Gordon also gone for only mustering one big chance in these four.

Ranked by xG

Written before Monday night’s meeting between West Ham and Brentford, this selection has four new names.

Not only is Dominic Solanke highly recommended due to Bournemouth facing Burnley before their Double Gameweek 28 but his underlying stats suggest huge underachievement of late. He had multiple chances versus Man City, where Phil Foden scored the winner from one of three shots on target.

Gabriel Martinelli assisted and is about to visit Sheffield United and Danny Welbeck has returned in three of his last four. But FPL managers should be aware that none of these six are yet guaranteed a match in Blank Gameweek 29. We’ll know for certain after this week’s FA Cup clashes.
