Which players are due a goal in Gameweek 26?

Picking out the players that look likely to score in an FPL gameweek is a big part of management. Using recent underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout, we assess which players are due a goal in Gameweek 26.

Recent FPL goals

Some attackers are in great form over their last four matches:

However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product. So let’s look at the players who have met the following criteria over their last four league appearances:

  • No more than one goal
  • At least ten shots
  • At least two big chances
  • An expected goals (xG) tally of 1.10
  • An expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.30

Due a goal in Gameweek 26

It’ll be the only ‘normal’ matchday between Gameweeks 25 and 29, where all 20 teams play once. From last week’s list, only two of the six names have started so far in Gameweek 25. Injuries to Darwin Nunez, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, whilst Eddie Nketiah was benched.

A few of these do have another chance in midweek, though.

Ranked by xG

This time, the list is much bigger due to welcoming back Man United, Newcastle, Brighton and Brentford assets. They comprise six of the ten entries.

The Seagulls are continuing to show Chelsea that they took the wrong part of this wonderfully-ran club. Midfield duo Alexis Mac Allister and Solly March host West Ham, hoping to continue the team’s post-World Cup average of two goals per game.

Newcastle also provide two players, although they seem to have lost all goal-scoring threat in recent times. Three goals in seven league games, with an inability to shoot even when ‘chasing’ in Sunday’s League Cup final. The regression of Callum Wilson is slightly worrying, although putting him and centre-back Fabian Schar against the leaky Man City is like putting a stoppable force versus a very movable object!

Meanwhile, Ivan Toney and Joao Felix will fancy their chances at home to Fulham and Leeds, as Bruno Fernandes travels to Anfield for the always huge meeting between Man United and Liverpool.
