Recent FPL goals

Some attackers are in great form over the last four Gameweeks:

However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product. So let’s look at the players who have met the following criteria over these four:

  • At least two big chances
  • An expected goals (xG) tally of 1.10
  • An expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.30

Due a goal in Gameweek 24

There have been two rounds of action since our last look at underachieving players. Since then, Matheus Cunha has scored a hat-trick away to Chelsea, making it four goals and three assists throughout his last five outings.

The poor form of Bukayo Saka ended with goals in successive matches, whilst team-mate Leandro Trossard came on to net in Sunday’s win over Liverpool.

Minutes have been limited for Odsonne Edouard and Anthony Elanga but the good season of Jarrod Bowen has paused, with a a five-game goalless streak.

Ranked by xG

This is being published before Erling Haaland faces Brentford tonight, with expectations high following three price rises in the past week.

Elsewhere, Aston Villa midfielder Moussa Diaby‘s good start has faded away to the point where colleague John McGinn is about to overtake him on points. Having said that, the latter’s recent xG is heavily boosted by the open-goal tap-in at Sheffield United, rather than a spurt of regular chances.

Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling has been goalless since Gameweek 13, leading us to the two Dominics. Whereas Dominic Solanke‘s superb December preceded a three-game January where his one goal came from his only shot on target, Dominic Calvert-Lewin saw a goal reduced to an assist at the weekend.

It adds to the Everton forward’s unluckiness. He’s had nine penalty shots over the last two matches and remains the league’s biggest xG underachiever so far (-5.79).
