Which players are due a goal in Gameweek 18?

Picking out the players that look likely to score in an FPL gameweek is a big part of management. Using recent underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout, we assess which players are due a goal in Gameweek 18.

Some attackers are in great form over the last four Gameweeks:

However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product. So let’s look at the players who have met the following criteria over these four Gameweeks:

  • At least nine shots
  • At least two big chances
  • An expected goals (xG) tally of 1.10
  • An expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.30

Due a goal in Gameweek 18

Last week’s list had goals for Gabriel Jesus and Miguel Almiron during Arsenal and Newcastle’s home victories. Jefferson Lerma missed out with a hamstring injury and it’s unknown when he’ll return, whilst Leandro Trossard was limited to an eight-minute cameo appearance.

Interestingly, the weekly presence of Darwin Nunez has disappeared. Not because of a goal but due to only accumulating eight shots. Four of them were labelled as a ‘big chance’ but his latest trick was to avoid a tap-in as he’d turned around to speak to the referee. The Uruguayan is now seven league games without a goal.

His Liverpool team-mate Mohamed Salah appears for a second straight week. Still FPL’s top points scorer with 130, he’s netted just once in five matches and will soon depart for AFCON.

Meanwhile, Anthony Gordon‘s owners received a lucky assist on Saturday. His through ball to Callum Wilson saw bodies fall over but the ball still snuck through to a simple Almiron finish. It prevented a third successive blank for Gordon and ensures he’s still delivered in every home game.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is goalless since Gameweek 10 but Pascal Gross is emerging as a good option to step in during January’s international tournaments. One goal and four assists in his last five, with nice-looking fixtures between Gameweeks 21 and 28.
