Which players are due a goal in Gameweek 17?

Picking out the players that look likely to score in an FPL gameweek is a big part of management. Using recent underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout, we assess which players are due a goal in Gameweek 17.

Recent FPL goals

Some attackers are in great form over the last four Gameweeks:

However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product. So let’s look at the players who have met the following criteria over these four Gameweeks:

  • No more than one goal
  • At least nine shots
  • At least two big chances
  • An expected goals (xG) tally of 1.10
  • An expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.30

Due a goal in Gameweek 17

Our last check was before Gameweek 15, where fortunes have been mixed for those names. Bryan Mbeumo (£6.9m) is injured, Luis Sinisterra (£5.5m) is still mostly a substitute but Richarlison (£6.6m) bagged a brace on Sunday versus Newcastle. It was the Brazilian’s first start since Gameweek 10.

As for the other three names – Darwin Nunez (£7.6m), Leandro Trossard (£6.5m) and Gabriel Jesus (£7.9m) – they remain.

Ranked by xG

Liverpool forward Darwin is a semi-permanent member of this club – notorious for missing chances but enticing new owners based on the sheer number of opportunities. It’s a surprise to see team-mate Mohamed Salah (£13.1m) here though. He has one goal and three assists from the last four, with Gameweek 15 being just his third blank so far.

Across Merseyside, Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£5.8m) has a huge xG considering he only played three of the four matches. 1.58 of this came against Newcastle, where he missed an absolute sitter.

Meanwhile, star of last season Miguel Almiron (£6.2m) is goalless in nine outings, although shots are still being accumulated. Jefferson Lerma (£4.7m) has stepped up during Eberechi Eze’s (£6.0m) absence at Crystal Palace, with six shots inside the box during the latest pair of matches. He netted five times for Bournemouth last season but none yet for the Eagles.
