Which Euro Fantasy players are ball recovery beasts?

In the official Euro Fantasy game, players are rewarded one point for every three instances of ball recovery.

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have been asking about this for years, as it adds appeal to a higher number of players and helps reduce template squads. The point for goals from outside the area is also a nice touch.

Therefore let’s look at which players have been making the most of this reward for ball recovery.

EURO FANTASY RECOVERIES

OVERALL

Euro Fantasy ball recovery

Armed with two clean sheets and a joint-most 26 ball recoveries, England’s Marc Guehi (€4.5m) is an absolute bargain. He’s alongside Willi Orban (€4.5m) on top but, as of now, the Hungarian’s tournament status is unknown.

Josip Sutalo (€5.0m) is already out, whilst Riccardo Calafiori (€4.5m) has a one-match ban to serve. Therefore, Italian team-mate Alessandro Bastoni (€5.5m) would be worth a shout. He and Orban are the defenders that have accumulated the most big chances (three) so far, with Inter’s centre-back on the scoresheet against Albania and later denied by a brilliant Croatian save.

Meanwhile, the highest-scoring Euro Fantasy defender for points is Slovenia’s Zan Karnicnik (€5.0m). Seven ball recovery points, plus a goal and clean sheet.

It’s not all defenders, though. Leading the way in midfield is Declan Rice (€6.5m), Nicolas Seiwald (€5.0m) and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (€5.5m). The best forward is Timi Elsnik (€6.0m) with 17 recoveries.

PER 90

However, as eight nations still need to play their final group game today, it may also be fair to compare recoveries per 90.

Phillipp Mwene (€4.5m) was unused in Austria’s Matchday 3 but has a rate of 9.536. Any leaks on whether he gets straight back in could prove useful to Fantasy managers. Expect Portugal to rest Pepe (€5.0m) this evening.

Guehi again stands out, as will €4.0m Lasha Dvali if Georgia miraculously qualify.

Other good picks for the unlimited pre-deadline transfers are Marc Cucurella (€4.5m), midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko (€5.5m) and, if passed fit, Antonio Rudiger (€5.5m).
