What to expect from the Gameweek 36 fixtures

With Gameweek 35 underway it’s time to turn our attention to Gameweek 36. Gameweek 36 is a big Double Gameweek with 16 games scheduled to be played. We take a look through what to expect from all of the fixtures.

All of the stats in this article include data up to and including Gameweek 34.

Gameweek 36 fixtures: Brentford v Southampton

There has only been one previous meetings in the Premier League between Brentford and Southampton. The reverse of the fixture earlier this season. Southampton won this fixture by four goals to one.

Brentford have taken points from their last four Premier League matches. Meanwhile Southampton have only one once in their last five matches.

Across these two teams Ivan Toney is the top goal scorer with 12. Southampton’s James Ward-Prowse is second with nine goals and his teammate Che Adams is third with seven. Bryan Mbeumo is top for assists across these two teams with seven. Nathan Redmond is second with five and Toney is third with four.

On average this season Southampton create 1.29 chances per match. This is slightly more than the 1.24 Brentford create on average.

Both teams have kept eight clean sheets this season. However, Tino Livramento has been ruled out for the rest of the year after his Gameweek 34 injury.

Gameweek 36: Aston Villa v Burnley

There have been eight previous meetings in the Premier League between Aston Villa and Burnley. Both teams have won twice and there have been four draws. Burnley won the reverse of this fixture earlier on in the season by three goals to two.

Aston Villa ended their losing streak in Gameweek 33. Burnley have won two and drawn one in their last three Premier League matches.

There have been 15 previous meetings in the Premier League between Chelsea and Wolves. Chelsea have won nine matches, Wolves have won three matches and there have been three draws.

Gameweek 36 fixtures: Crystal Palace v Watford

There have been 11 matches between these two teams in the Premier League. Crystal Palace have won five, Watford have won three and there have been three draws. Palace have won the last two fixtures between these two sides in the Premier League.

Watford have failed to win in any of their last four Premier League matches. Crystal Palace ended a two match losing streak with a draw against Leeds in Gameweek 34.

Across these two teams Cristiano Ronaldo is the top scorer with 16 goals. Bruno Fernandes is second with nine. Neal Maupay is third with eight goals this season. Injured Paul Pogba is top for assists with nine. Fernandes is second with six and Enock Mwepu third with four.

On average United create 1.82 chances per match. In contrast Brighton create 1.18 chances on average.

Brighton have kept nine clean sheets in comparison to seven for United.

Gameweek 36: Liverpool v Spurs

There have been 59 previous meetings in the Premier League between Liverpool and Spurs. Liverpool have won 29 times, Spurs have won 14 times and there have been five draws.

Liverpool have won four of the last five matches between the sides in the Premier League. There has also been one draw in the reverse of this fixture earlier on in the season.

Liverpool have won four of their last five matches in the League, only dropping points against Man City. Spurs’ form has struggled in the last two weeks with them failing to score in both Gameweek 33 and 34.

Defensively Liverpool have kept 20 clean sheets, meanwhile Spurs have kept 13.

Gameweek 36 fixtures: Arsenal v Leeds

There have been 27 meetings in the Premier League between Arsenal and Leeds. Arsenal have won 14 matches, Leeds eight and there have been five draws.

Arsenal have won their last two Premier League matches, having lost the three previous games. Leeds have returned points in all of their last five Premier League matches with three wins and two draws.

Across these two teams Bukayo Saka is the top goal scorer with 11 goals. Raphinha and Emile Smith-Rowe are tied second with 10 each. Alexandre Lacazette is top for assists with seven. Saka is second with five and Dan James is third with four.

On average this season Leeds create 1.09 chances per match. This is just slightly more than the 1.06 that Arsenal create on average.

Arsenal have kept 13 clean sheets this season. Leeds in comparison have kept just five.

Leicester v Everton

Gameweek 36 fixture: Norwich v West Ham

There have been 13 previous meetings in the Premier League between West Ham and Norwich. West Ham have won five of the matches, Norwich two and there have been six draws.

West Ham have won the last three matches between the two clubs. In those games West Ham have kept three clean sheets and scored eight goals. Both West Ham and Norwich have struggled for results in the Premier League in recent weeks. West Ham will also play the second leg of their Europa League tie ahead of this fixture.

On average this season City create 2.12 chances per match, compared to 0.79 for Newcastle. Although Newcastle’s stats are far better since Eddie Howe took over.

Aston Villa v Liverpool

There have been 53 previous meetings in the Premier League between Liverpool and Aston Villa. Liverpool have won 30 of the matches, Aston Villa 13 and there have been 10 draws. This match will be Gerrards first time managing against Liverpool in a competitive match at Anfield.

Liverpool have won four of the last five matches between the two clubs, with the exception of Aston Villa’s surprise 7-1 victory in 2020.

Liverpool have only dropped points once in the last four matches, against Manchester City.
