Underachievers GW34: Which players are due an FPL goal?
Using recent underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout, we assess which players are due an FPL goal.
Recent FPL goals
Some forwards are in great form over their last four matches:
6 GOALS – Cristiano Ronaldo, Son Heung-min
3 GOALS – Richarlison, Jack Harrison, Riyad Mahrez, Rodrigo, Diogo Jota, Timo Werner
However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product.
So let’s look at the players who have recorded at least nine shots, an expected goals (xG) tally of 1.00 and an expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.20 over their last four matches, yet no more than one goal.
Due an FPL goal
One of last week’s names managed to get on the scoresheet – Mohamed Salah and his 19 points. Using data from Fantasy Football Scout’s Members Area, here are this week’s underachievers.
There is an increase in names on this week’s list, led by the 14 shots of Ivan Toney that have only brought one goal. He scored five times in the two matches before this data began and isn’t the only Brentford representative here. Bryan Mbeumo is listed as an FPL midfielder but still plays as a forward, despite only scoring once between Gameweeks 7 and 32. His last four outings have brought one goal and four assists.
Meanwhile, the decline of Michail Antonio has been staggering. Nine goal involvements in his first five starts this season, yet just eight from the subsequent 27. But at least he seems to be getting close again. 13 goal attempts, 12 inside the box and an expected goals (xG) tally of 2.15 hints that some late returns may arrive.
Bukayo Saka appears here, despite scoring on Wednesday night against Chelsea. Additionally, there are a pair of players from both Burnley and Aston Villa. The former two play tonight versus Southampton, whilst the latter two weren’t able to participate due to Villa’s Blank Gameweek.
It’s the second consecutive inclusion of Harry Kane, having now gone four matches without a goal. In fairness, seven assists have occurred but Spurs’ 1-0 loss to Brighton was his first blank since Gameweek 26.
