Underachievers GW31: Which players are due an FPL goal?
Using recent underlying stats from the Fantasy Football Scout, we assess which players are due an FPL goal.
Recent FPL goals
Some forwards are in great form over their last four matches:
5 GOALS – Ivan Toney
4 GOALS – Harry Kane, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kai Havertz
3 GOALS – Cucho Hernandez, Riyad Mahrez, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Son Heung-min, Raheem Sterling, Wilfried Zaha, Hakim Ziyech
However, others are shooting and getting in the right places without having either luck or end product.
So let’s look at the players who have recorded at least nine shots, an expected goals (xG) tally of 1.00 and an expected goal involvement (xGI) of 1.20 over their last four matches, yet no more than one goal.
Due an FPL goal
Only four of the nine names brought up last week took part in Blank Gameweek 30. Therefore the table looks quite familiar
All nine of these players will take part in Gameweek 31, with Raphinha and Phil Foden having an xGI of at least 3.00 over their last four outings. The Leeds man has done everything but score in recent weeks but missed the dramatic 3-2 win at Wolves because of Covid.
Bernardo Silva is the second Man City asset who is due a goal, joined by a pair of Southampton men in Che Adams and Stuart Armstrong.
The potential of Mason Mount compared to fellow Chelsea midfielders Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic was featured in an article on Saturday, whilst Harvey Barnes has received many mentions for his recent form and fantastic upcoming fixtures. Leicester still have 11 more appearances to make, although their deep run in the Europa Conference League could put Barnes’ league minutes at risk.
All except Mount, Bernardo and Raphinha have under 10% overall ownership. Yet they have the underlying stats to create a compelling case as differentials worth pursuing.
