UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 Best Budget Gems
The sixth round of the 2024/25 Champions League season is edging closer. With this in mind we continue our coverage by picking out the UCL Fantasy Matchday 6 best budget gems. To do this we consider several factors including fixture difficulty and form.
Budget players can be vital for UCL Fantasy managers. Cheap assets allow more budget for premium picks who can be some of the most consistent in the game. Finding cheap assets is essential but finding cheap assets who do well can contribute to both rank and mini-league position.
Celtic
Since their embarrassing 7-1 defeat to Dortmund in the Champions League, Celtic have won 11 and drawn three of their 14 matches in all competitions, highlighting a brilliant unbeaten run heading into their Matchday 6 clash.
This week, the Scottish Champions play in the early kick-off, which means UCL Fantasy managers have access to their team sheet before the deadline. They also clash with 23rd place GNK Dinamo, which could be an excellent opportunity to them both defensively and offensively.
At the back, Peter Schmeichel (€4.5m) could be a great goalkeeper option for those who need one. However, their most attacking option in defence is full-back Alistair Johnston (€4.5m). The Canadian has already registered a huge four goals and four assists in just 15 domestic league matches.
In attack, midfielder Arne Engels (€5.7m) could catch the eye. Engels has managed four returns in just five European matches, and takes his sides corners, free-kicks and penalties, which provides multiple avenues to points. An even cheaper and arguably more explosive fantasy option is Nicolas-Gerrit Kühn (€4.7m). Prior to his Matchday 5 clash with Club Brugge, the German has amassed five goals and three assists in a five-match period.
Stuttgart
Stuttgart’ Matchday 5 capitulation seems to have worked wonders for their form recently. Of their three matches since that day, the German side have won twice and drawn once. They also picked up one clean sheet, and scored 2-3 goals in all of those same games.
This week Stuttgart need to win to have any chance of getting into the qualifying spots. They have a very good opportunity to do just that as they come head-to-head with 36th place Young Boys. The Swiss side have lost every single one of their matches so far, scoring just two goals and conceded a huge 17 times.
The above suggests that Stuttgart could have huge potential this week, heightened by the fact they play the game at home in Germany. Alexander Nubel (€4.5m), although disappointing recently, could be a good option this week. Defender Anthony Rouault (€4.7m) has managed 7-9 ball recoveries in all but one of his matches so far. For just €0.3m more, Maximilian Mittelstädt (€5m), who has managed seven assists in all competitions for club and country this season.
There are plenty of routes into the efficient Stuttgart frontline. Leading it is forward Ermedin Demirović (€6.9m) who scored three times in his last four matches in all competitions. A cheaper pick in midfield is Enzo Millot (€6.2m). He produced an impressive two assists, one goal and one player of the match award in his first five Champions League matches.
More Great Budget Picks
Liverpool’ clash with Girona, albeit away from home, it could be very good opportunity for their defensive assets. One of them, if Alisson Becker is still out due to injury, is Caoimhin Kelleher (€4.6m). The Irishman was instrumental for Liverpool keeping a clean sheet in all three of their last matches. UCL Fantasy managers should also look out for centre-back Joe Gomez (€4.2m), who could cover for the injured Ibrahima Konate.
Scoring a whopping 38 goals in Serie A this season, Atalanta could go under the radar this week, especially when considering they play Real Madrid this week. The Spanish side have been ropey at the back and the in-from Atalanta striker Mateo Retegui (€5.3m) could punish them.
Arsenal have a home fixture against Monaco this week. So, the round ahead could see the Gooners add a fourth Champions League clean sheet. The cheapest route into the backline appears to be Jurrien Timber (€4.4m), who registered an assist in the previous game.
