Best Limitless Team
Goalkeepers
Prior to their embarrassing loss against Sporting CP, Manchester City kept three consecutive clean sheets in the Champions League. The English side have a home meeting with Feyenoord next up which could be a good opportunity to recapture that defensive form, and Ederson could be an easy route into the backline.
The fixtures are quite awkward on the Wednesday, but one side who play at home and have a good fixture is PSV. The Dutch side have a meeting with Shakhtar, who have failed to score in three of their four European matches. Because of this goalkeeper Walter Benitez could have potential.
Defenders
Leverkusen have a fantastic home fixture against Salzburg this week. The Austrian side have failed to score a goal in a huge eight matches this season. Leverkusen also play with a back-three which gives wing-backs Alejandro Grimaldo and Jeremie Frimpong the opportunity to advance forward. Picking between them can be very difficult, so it could be hugely beneficial to own them both.
Facing the worst side in the Champions League, Milan have a great opportunity to keep a clean sheet this week. Slovan Bratislava may be poor offensively but the same could be said for their defence, and that’s something flying full-back Theo Hernandez could take advantage of. The Frenchman has produced two goals and three assists already this season.
There isn’t many convincing options in general on Wednesday, but having some team balance between both days could be important. Taking that into account, it could be wise to stick with Dortmund penalty taker Emre Can, who clashes with a poor GNK Dinamo next.
Another asset playing on Wednesday is Maximilian Mittelstädt. Stuttgart meet with Crvena Zvezda this week, so as well as clean sheet potential, their German full-back could bag an attacking return. Mittelstädt has already registered an impressive six assists in all competitions this season, displaying his excellent distribution talent.
Midfielders
Barcelona play at home against Brest this week, and based on their three goals per game scoring average, investing will be crucial. One of their best attackers, and one of the best and most consistent assets in the game currently is Raphinha, who has racked up three consecutive double-digit hauls in the last three games.
Leverkusen may be inconsistent, but they are averaging around two goals scored per game domestically. Salzburg, their upcoming opposition, aren’t just offensively poor but they have shipped 10 goals so far. Their defensive frailties are something that talisman and penalty taker Florian Wirtz could take advantage of.
Scoring more goals than any other side in Serie A this season, Atalanta have been excellent domestically. They go into their next match against a woeful Young Boys defence, off the back of an impressive 2-0 away win against Stuttgart. One of their deadly duo in attack is set piece taker Ademola Lookman. Lookman has started his season extremely well – scoring six goals and creating four assists in just nine league matches.
Milan face the worst defence in the Champions League next. For that reason, investing in their main attacking threat is set piece and penalty taker Christian Pulisic. The American has already amassed five goals and three assists in Serie A, as well as hitting a goal contribution in each of his last two Champions league matches.
Real Madrid are hugely out of sorts currently, an example of this was their recent Champions League 3-1 loss to Milan. Taking that into account, Liverpool’s relentless winning form and his scintillating form this season means penalty taker Mohamed Salah should be a shoo-in.
Forwards
Spearheading an exciting Barcelona frontline that has produced a mammoth 14 goals in the last three Champions League matches, is Robert Lewandowski. 21 goal contributions already this season shows that Lewandowski is one of the most in-form attackers in Europe.
With 4+ goals against weaker opposition in the Champions League already, a home fixture for Manchester City against a ropey Feyenoord defence could be a great opportunity for them to bounce back. Leading their frightening attack is Norwegian and penalty taker Erling Haaland.
Completing the frontline, and to provide a little more team balance in regards to days, Serhou Guirassy could be a great addition. GNK Dinamo have conceded 12 goals already in the Champions League so the in-form Guirassy could punish them.
