UCL Fantasy Matchday 5 Best Captains

The Champions League continues! Today we pick out the UCL Fantasy Matchday 5 best captains. As well as picking out the standout captaincy option on each day of Matchday 5 we also select one or more differential options for those looking to gain rank early on.

UCL Fantasy managers have the ability the select a captain on each day of a Matchday. If you aren’t happy with your captain return on the first day then you can change your captain to another player on the second day.

The Best Captain on Tuesday 26th November

Form has been a slight concern for Manchester City, losing their last four matches on the bounce (at the time of writing). One of those losses came in the Champions League against Sporting away from home.

Prior to that, Manchester City put nine goals past the likes of Slovan Bratislava and Sparta Praha, displaying the relentlessness we are used to form them as UCL Fantasy managers. We could see something similar this week, as the English side host Feyenoord at home.

Although arguably out of form, penalty taker Erling Haaland (€11m) has still produced 15 goals in 15 games, across the Premier League and Champions League. The Norwegian will almost certainly be motivated to perform after big misses in Matchday 4, and with Phil Foden gaining fitness and Kevin De Bruyne returning from injury, he has even more creativity behind him to bounce back.

Tuesday Differentials

There are plenty of fantastic captaincy options on Tuesday and many could look to Barcelona. The Catalans have amassed a whopping 14 goals in their last three Champions League matches, highlighting a brilliant run of form.

Amongst the goals, is penalty taker and striker Robert Lewandowski (€9.5m). Lewandowski recently hit 20+ goal contributions in all competitions, one of very few players to achieve that this season in Europe.

UCL Fantasy managers will do well to not forget about set piece taker Raphinha (€7.6m). The Brazilian has been mesmerising since the start of the season, and with back-to-back double-digit hauls in his last three games, he goes into the clash in top form.

Leverkusen are another side many could look to when trying to pick out a captain. Leverkusen will be looking to bounce back after their embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Liverpool, in a clash against a Salzburg side who have have scored just three goals and conceded 10 in the Champions League so far.

The above could mean backing wing-back Alejandro Grimaldo (€5.6m), who banked over 20 goal contributions in the Bundesliga last season. Penalty taker Florian Wirtz (€7.7m) is another excellent option, especially when considering the fact he has already managed three goals and three player of the match awards in just four games.

The Best Captain on Wednesday 27th November

Failing to secure a significant captaincy return on the Tuesday, it could mean backing Liverpool. The Reds have lost just one match all season, in all competitions, which shows just how much momentum they have going into the game.

Real Madrid lay ahead for Liverpool. Once a team to fear, the Spanish giants have been hugely inconsistent recently – with heavy losses to Barcelona (4-0) and Milan (3-1), even French side Lille managed to get the better of them prior to that.

Defensively, Real Madrid are there to target, and Mohamed Salah (€10.1m) is in the type of form in which he can take advantage of that. As well as notching up a huge eight goals and six assists in the Premier League, the Egyptian also banked five goal contributions in his first four Champions League matches.

Wednesday Differentials

The lack of convincing differentials on the Wednesday, could force UCL Fantasy managers to play it safe. But, for those still hoping to go different then Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens (€5.3m) could be a good pick. Gittens has already proven explosive in the Champions League, having managed a huge 15-point haul in the opening round. And, with rumours circulating that striker Serhou Guirassy is injured, the youngster may have to step up in his absence.

Celtic could be another alternative. The Scottish side face Club Brugge at home, off the back of a comfortable and impressive 3-1 win against Leipzig. Two good options include Nicolas-Gerrit Kühn (€4.5m) and Arne Engels (€5.8m). The former bagged a brace in his latest Matchday whilst the latter takes set pieces for his side.
