Best Limitless Team
Goalkeepers
Barcelona host Young Boys this week. The Swiss side were poor in their Matchday 1 opener against Aston Villa in which they lost 3-0. We could see that same bluntness in front of goal this week and benefitting from a clean sheet could be Iñaki Peña who should play with Marc Ter Stegen out due to long-term injury.
On Wednesday the standout fixture from a defensive perspective is Liverpool against Bologna. Since former manager Tiago Motta departed the club for Juventus Bologna have failed to win more than one of their matches. With that in mind and the fact they failed to score against Shakhtar in Matchday 1 Alisson could a fantastic option.
Defenders
Liverpool aren’t just playing an out of form side, the Reds have also collected an impressive four clean sheets this season in the Premier League. Trent Alexander-Arnold is another player who could benefit from a clean sheet. The full-back recently hit back-to-back assists against Milan in Matchday 1 and Bournemouth in the Premier League so also has attacking potential.
2023/24 Serie A Champions and 2022/23 Champions League finalists Inter have a lovely home fixture against Crvena Zvezda next up. They also play with a wing-back system which allows Federico Dimarco into some very advanced positions. Dimarco has been exceptional recently – bagging two goals and two assists in his last four matches in all competitions.
Another team with a nice home fixture is Stuttgart as they clash with Sparta Praha. Left-back Maximilian Mittelstädt goes into the next game off the back of registering three assists in his last two Bundesliga matches.
Dortmund have been hit and miss defensively this season but the 2023/24 Champions League finalists proved they can keep clean sheets last season. Although the case domestically the German side collected a clean sheet in Matchday 1. Emre Can could continue to offer multiple routes to points. As well as creating an assist in the opener he also takes penalties for his side.
Completing the defence is the relentless Alejandro Grimaldo. Whether clean sheet potential is there or not for the Leverkusen wing-back double digits for both goals and assists last season is enough to invest. Grimaldo scored and kept a clean sheet in his Matchday 1 game which led to a 12-point haul.
Midfielders
Milan have shipped 2+ goals in four of their matches this season whilst Leverkusen maintain an average of around three goals scored per match. That and his relentless form makes penalty taker and talisman Florian Wirtz a shoo-in this week.
Barcelona have been exceptional this season – winning all but one of their La Liga matches this season. The game they did lose was their most recent in which they left several key players out of the starting XI. The Spaniards face a poor Young Boys at home this week and four goals and five assists in eight La Liga matches so far makes Lamine Yamal an essential this week.
Arsenal have netted at least two goals in all but one of their home matches this season which is where they play this week. PSG have conceded in all of their away games this season which could mean potential for set piece and penalty taker Bukayo Saka. Saka has produced a goal contribution in all but one of his matches so far this season in all competitions.
Maintaining some of the best attacking metrics in the Premier League Liverpool could have huge potential this week with their home match against Bologna. The best option in the Liverpool frontline is penalty taker Mohamed Salah who has racked up four goals and four assists in just six Premier League games.
Completing the midfield is Jude Bellingham. The injury to Kylian Mbappe could well push him into a number 10 role this week against a Lille side who have conceded 2-3 goals in four of their last six matches.
Forwards
Spearheading the Barcelona frontline going into a home match is penalty taler Robert Lewandowski. The Poland international has been in spectacular form this season – scoring seven goals and hitting two assists in just eight La Lia matches.
Manchester City will be keen to improve on recent results. The English giants clash with Slovan Bratislava this week who conceded a huge five goals to Celtic in Matchday 1. Leading the lethal Manchester City attack is penalty taker Erling Haaland. Haaland has produced a huge 10 goals in just six Premier League matches so far this season.
Viktor Gyökeres is another player who could do some serious damage this week. Sporting face PSV and after losing 3-1 in their opening match main man Gyökeres will expect to add to the 11 goals and one assist he has managed in the Portugal and Champions League this season already.
