UCL Fantasy Matchday 12 Best Differentials

Last modified date

The new round of the Champions League is about to begin and so we continue coverage by reeling off the UCL Fantasy Matchday 12 best differentials. To help us we consider lots of different factors including team and player form, fixture difficulty and stats.

Differentials are players who have low ownership. Owning a differential who has success can be extremely influential on both mini-league position and overall rank. Because of this checking out our UCL Fantasy Matchday 12 differentials can be extremely beneficial.

Ethan Nwaneri – 1% Ownership

Many held question marks over the Arsenal frontline heading into their first clash with PSV. This was mostly due to the Gooners being hampered with key injuries in attack. However, those questions were quickly answered in the previous round.

Arsenal weren’t just convincing against PSV, they absolutely thrashed them in a 7-1 beating. Among those goal scorers, and someone who returned in Matchday 10 too was youngster Ethan Nwaneri (€4.7m). The Dutch side are evidently a team to target from an offensive perspective, and Nwaneri is one of their most in-form attackers.

Marco Asensio – 1% Ownership

Prior to their latest Champions League game, Club Brugge had largely been impressive at home, and that showed in their results. However, defensive capitulation during their 3-1 loss against Aston Villa in the first leg is another reminder of how ropey they can be at the back.

This week Aston Villa host Club Brugge, and the Belgian side will have to go all out if they want to claw back the tie. This could leave plenty of space for Aston Villa attackers to scrutinise. New signing and midfielder Marco Asensio (€6.7m) has started life in England exceptionally, and has scored five goals in their previous four matches.

Vangelis Pavlidis – 3% Ownership

Barcelona are an interesting side. The Catalans are the highest goal scorers in the competition, but they have also been hugely poor from a defensive perspective. In fact, is it wasn’t for the efforts of their goalkeeper, the Spanish side could have been in a lot of trouble heading into the second leg.

It may be extremely unlikely that Barcelona repeat their defensive performance this week, and that’s without factoring in Vangelis Pavlidis‘ (€6.8m) fine form. Pavlidis has been fantastic this season in Europe – racking up seven goals and two assists in just 10 matches. Stopping Pavlidis from scoring once is difficult enough in his current form, stopping him twice could be a step too far for the Barcelona backline.

Jurriën Timber – 2% Ownership

A home match against a team Arsenal beat 7-1 in the first leg, could be too difficult to ignore for UCL Fantasy managers. The Gooners aren’t just a major threat from an offensive perspective, they have also been one of the best defences across the Premier League and Champions League.

There are plenty of routes into the Arsenal defence, but one that some may avoid is Jurriën Timber (€4.4m). The Dutchman isn’t just cheaper than his teammates but he seems to offer attacking threat – something he displayed in Matchday 11 with his goal against PSV.

Lautaro Martinez – 8% Ownership

Many within the UCL Fantasy community felt that Feyenoord got lucky during their play-off matches against Milan. It turns out that they were right. Feyenoord failed to put up much of a fight in their home match against Inter, a fixture they lost comfortably.

Inter have proven to be a much better side at home, which is where they play this week. With this and the above in mind, it could be fair to say we expect goals from the Italian side this week. The best route into the attack, an attack many seem to be avoiding, is Lautauro Martinez (€9.4m). Martinez is in the middle of a purple patch – having scored an impressive five goals in his previous three Champions League games
