UCL Fantasy Matchday 10 Best Wildcard Team

Last modified date

In this article we continue our Champions League coverage by producing the UCL Fantasy Matchday 10 best Wildcard team. To do this we take into account several factors including fixture difficulty, team and player form and statistics.

The Wildcard is one of two chips provided by UCL Fantasy to give fantasy managers a boost. The Wildcard allows its user to make as many permanent changes as possible until the upcoming deadline. For that reason the Wildcard is seen as the most powerful chip.

Goalkeepers

According to the numbers, Benfica aren’t a popular side in terms of investment, so backing them this week, similar to those that did in Matchday 9, could be hugely beneficial. One way to do that is with Anatoliy Trubin (€4.5m), who has returned in three of his previous four games.

PSG appear to be one of the strongest sides to invest in from a defensive perspective on Wednesday. Playing at home this week, PSG come up against a Brest side they comfortably beat in the previous round. With that in mind, Gianluigi Donnarumma (€5.8m) makes the team.

Defenders

Doubling up on the Benfica defence after back-to-back clean sheets in the Champions League, could be a wise move this week. Regardless of the double-up, centre-back Nicolas Otamendi (€5m) is an excellent asset, with both scoring and ball recovery potential, as shown in his previous matches.

Another defensive double up that could be extremely wise to include is PSG. Achraf Hakimi (€5.5m) has been one of the most attacking full-backs in Europe this season and his numbers continue to impress – hitting 14 goals contributions in all competitions already.

Playing at home, and going into the match after keeping a clean sheet in Serie A, Milan will aim to over-turn a 1-0 deficit against Feyenoord this week. The Dutch side were extremely poor at home in Matchday 9 – producing less than 0.60 expected goals. So, sticking with the attacking Theo Hernandez (£5.5m) could see success.

Five clean sheets in their first nine matches, makes Atalanta one of the most impressive defences involved in the play-offs. This week they play at home, hosting a Club Brugge side who are poor when playing away from home. Because of this, the double up of both centre-back Berat Djimsiti (€4.7m) and wing-back Davide Zappacosta (€4.7m), who both have multiple routes to points takes its place.

Midfielders

Bayern hit around 0.70 expected goals in their away trip to Celtic Park during Matchday 9. This was one of their lowest amounts produced both this season and last. This isn’t sustainable, so we could see the German side bounce back and hit the high numbers they usually so. With that, doubling up on the Bayern midfield with both the in-form Michael Olise (€6.7m) and now fully fit Jamal Musiala (€9m) could see huge success this week.

PSG have shown they can sweep aside their fellow French side Brest already, not just in the previous Champions League game, but also in the league. That is likely to continue this week as PSG play at home, and when taking into account Ousmane Dembele’ (€8.4m) scintillating form.

Milan need to bounce back this week after their defeat to Feyenoord in the first leg. Main man and penalty taker Christian Pulisic (€7.5m) was rested for most of his sides recent domestic game, so goes into the clash fresh and ready. If he isn’t in the starting line-up then UCL Fantasy managers could look to further target the ropey Brest backline with former Napoli star and Georgian Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (€7.5m).

Manchester City have seriously struggled recently – shipping goals in most of their clashes against ‘bigger sides’. We could see a repeat of Matchday 9 this week in terms of goals scored, and if that is the case, Jude Bellingham (€9m) should be among the success.

Forwards

Bayern are one of several teams that maintain three goals scored per game this season, so investing in their main man Harry Kane (€10.7m) could be seen as essential. Kane is having another exceptional season and heads into the game in top form.

Atalanta are another side who generally maintain 2+ goals scored per game. This week they play at home, which could be a huge advantage. Club Brugge have shown they can capitulate defensively away from home. So, penalty taker Matteo Retegui (€5.5m), who has scored 20+ goals this season, could be a great pick.

Vinicius Junior (€11.2m) looks set for another big week this week. The Brazilian has bagged a double-digit haul in all three of his previous Champions League matches. Manchester City may have previously been able to handle him, but they don’t appear to have the personnel anymore.
