UCL Fantasy Matchday 1 Best Differentials

The Champions League is about to begin and so we continue our pre-season coverage by reeling off the UCL Fantasy Matchday 1 best differentials. To help us we consider lots of different factors including team and player form, fixture difficulty and stats.

Differentials are players who have low ownership. Owning a differential who has success can be extremely influential on both mini-league position and overall rank. Because of this checking out our UCL Fantasy Matchday 1 differentials can be extremely beneficial.

Michael Olise – 5% Ownership

For UCL Fantasy managers looking for a different route into the Bayern frontline, or for those that simply want to add an attacker alongside the relentless Harry Kane then Michael Olise (€6.5m) could be a great selection.

The former Crystal Palace man recently joined the Bavarians and since then hasn’t looked back. Olise followed up his impressive run of five goals and two assists for country in the Olympics by producing a goal contribution in each of his first two matches for the German side.

Since missing the Round 1 DFB Pokal Cup match Olise has started every single match for his new side. Playing at home against an inconsistent and considerably weaker GNK Dinamo could be a perfect opportunity to make his mark in Europe’s biggest club competition, something he is yet to do.

Oscar Gloukh – 1% Ownership

Salzburg will be hoping to pick up three points in their opening match against Sparta Praha. The Austrian champions go into the game in impressive European form having edged Dutch side Twente in their Qualification matches and scoring 2+ goals against them in both games.

There are several routes into the Salzburg attack but the standout is Oscar Gloukh (€6m). The Israeli international is becoming more and more prolific in terms of output – registering seven assists and scoring one goal in his final seven league matches of the 23/24 campaign. At just 20 years old Gloukh has already amassed three goals and two assists in just three league matches this season so goes into Matchday 1 in top form.

Waldemar Anton – 1% Ownership

UCL Fantasy managers may be expecting big things from Dortmund this season after advancing all of the way to the final in 23/24. The German side managed a clean sheet in nearly half of their matches last season and with two out of two in the Bundesliga so far already, many will be looking to their backline for investment.

There are plenty of options to choose from this season as Dortmund seem to be switching to a back five this time around. One of their options, who is also conveniently the cheapest is Waldemar Anton (€4.5m). The former Stuttgart man has a fantastic opportunity to pick up points this week as his side clash with Club Brugge.

Nicolas-Gerrit Kühn – 0% Ownership

Early signs suggest Celtic have huge potential this week. As well as beating Premier League sides Chelsea and Manchester City during pre-season, they have also won every single match they have been involved in since then.

3-0, 3-0, 2-0 and 4-0, Celtic’s four league matches were convincing displays and contributing in those games was Nicolas-Gerrit Kühn (€4.5m). The budget midfielder has banked a huge three goals and three assists in his first five competitive matches of the new campaign and a meeting with Slovan Bratislava at home could see him add to his tally.

Ollie Watkins – 4% Ownership

There is a lot to take confidence from when it comes to investing in Aston Villa. Although absent from the Champions League for several decades they come into the tournament with a manager who thrives in European competitions.

Spearheading the Aston Villa frontline going into their match against Young Boys is Ollie Watkins (€7.5m). Last season was a special one for Watkins after bagging a whopping 19 goals and 13 assists in the Premier League. Between their final four matches of 23/24 campaign and their five pre-season matches Young Boys conceded a huge 19 goals which is the type of defensive form Watkins could take advantage of.
