UCL Fantasy Celtic Preview and Top Picks

The Champions League is on pause due to the international break. But, it won’t be long until it returns so we take a look the UCL Fantasy Celtic preview and top picks for their run ahead. To do this we bring in Scottish football expert @paramorenumetal to take us through it.

Our Celtic preview and top picks could be hugely enlightening for UCL Fantasy managers. The Scottish side have a significant fixture swing ahead, making them one of the most appealing sides in the competition.

Preview

Following Celtic’s impressive form this season, it’s no surprise that Fantasy managers have been watching Celtic’s key assets closely.

Celtic Preview and Top Picks

Since their 2-0 loss to Hearts earlier this year (a match that saw Yang controversially sent off), Celtic have gone on an exceptional run, winning 31 of their next 36 games across all competitions. This includes preseason wins against Man City and Chelsea, as well as competitive victories over RB Leipzig, Rangers, and a respectable away draw with Europa League champions Atalanta.

In terms of their domestic League form, The Scottish side sit top of the pile after a huge 10 wins in their first 11 matches. During that period they also racked up massive 31 goals scored, which averages out at around three goals per game.

Champions League form also suggests they could be a team to back. Although suffering an embarrassing 7-1 defeat to Dortmund, Celtic claimed points against Slovan Bratislava, Atalanta and Leipzig. Two wins, one draw and one loss is a great start for Celtic, and with fixtures against Club Brugge, GNK Dinamo and Young Boys in their next three, they are likely to build on that start.

Here are some standout performers fueling this success:

Kasper Schmeichel (€4.4m)

The Danish captain has been a critical addition to Celtic’s backline, securing 11 clean sheets in 18 appearances across all competitions, with notable performances against Kilmarnock, Atalanta, and RB Leipzig. Schmeichel also shone in preseason fixtures against Chelsea and Man City, showing his consistency. At €4.4m, he offers excellent value as a reliable goalkeeper option under Brendan Rodgers.

Alistair Johnston (4.5m)

Johnston has been a revelation this season with eighth combined goals and assists, an impressive tally for a right-back. Aside from a tough outing against Dortmund, Johnston has averaged close to five points per game in the Champions League and comes in at a budget-friendly €4.5m. As long as he remains fit, he’s expected to retain his spot in the line-up.

Nicolas Kühn (€4.5m)

Kühn has been an outstanding asset for Celtic, both in domestic and European competitions. The German forward has tallied 28 points across his 4 UCL appearances and amassed an impressive 20 goals and assists combined this season. Already attracting interest from Premier League clubs, Kühn remains a steal at just €4.5m if he can keep up his form.

Kyogo Furuhashi (€6.5m)

Despite a slight dip in his stats since Ange Postecoglou’s tenure, Kyogo remains clutch in high-stakes matches. He has scored in half of his UCL home games for Celtic and consistently performs well in the Glasgow Derby. With an average of around three shots per 90 minutes in the UCL and a big chance each game, Furuhashi’s underlying numbers suggest that he’s due for more returns.

Editors Pick – Arne Engels

I was slightly surprised @paramorenumetal excluded midfielder Arne Engels (€5.7m) as a top pick. But, I also see why he would considering he isn’t a major goal threat. One thing I really like about him is the fact he takes corners, free-kicks and penalties, and all three give him potential to return in any given match.

Engels currently sits as the second highest scoring player at Celtic in UCL Fantasy, behind Nicolas Kühn. His 24 points mostly come from one goal and three assists. In fact, there was only one of his four Champions League matches that he didn’t produce a goal contribution.
