UCL Fantasy Best Teams to Target in Matchday 9
The Champions League continues! So, we pick out the best teams to target in Matchday 9 for UCL Fantasy, taking into account team form and other factors to see where fantasy managers should be putting their money.
Taking a look at the best teams to target in Matchday 9 can be extremely helpful to fantasy managers. Knowing where to put our precious budget can be huge and also help with important decisions like transfers, captaincy and more.
Atalanta
Atalanta have proven themselves fully this season. As well as sitting third in Serie A, just behind the relentless Inter and Napoli, they have also taken points from both Arsenal and Barcelona in the Champions league, arguably two of the best sides in Europe.
They haven’t just shown they can go to-to-toe with the ‘bigger’ teams, Atalanta have also swept aside weaker sides, their 6-1 and 5-0 victories against Young Boys and Sturm respectively are two fantastic examples of that.
Finishing in 9th, just one point behind Aston Villa in the League Phase, Atalanta will be hoping to ease past Club Brugge in Matchday 9 and 10. The Belgian side have impressed at times, but they also finished in 24th, just squeezing into the play-off spots.
Bayern
Another side who finished just one point short of the top eight was Bayern. Vincent Kompany’ men have been hit and miss for most of the Champions League campaign, or at least in terms of their high standards.
Domestic form suggests the Bavarians are in a brilliant run. Sitting top of the Bundesliga and six points clear of title rivals Leverkusen, Bayern have seemingly bounced back from their disappointment last season.
Scoring goals certainly hasn’t been an issue for Bayern. As well as averaging 3.1 goals per game domestically, they have also produced an average of 2.5 goals scored per match in the Champions League. That is a scoring average they take into a their two clashes against an underwhelming Celtic side.
PSG
It’s no surprise that PSG sit top of Ligue 1 in France. Dominating at the peak, the French giants have a whopping 10-point lead on second place Marseille after another excellent campaign. Another achievement to note during that period, is that PSG are thus far unbeaten domestically.
PSG sit much deeper in the top 24 of the Champions League, due to their inconsistent results. Recent results do offer promise though – going unbeaten in all competitions since their 1-0 loss to Bayern in November 2024, whilst also seeing off the likes of Manchester City and Stuttgart.
Interestingly, PSG face-off with fellow French side Brest in both Matchday 9 and 10. Brest surprised many during their campaign. However, their fall off during the latter stages (their 2-0 loss to Shakhtar and 3-0 loss to Real Madrid), is cause for concern. Brest have also failed to edge PSG in their last 20 attempts in all competitions.
