UCL Fantasy Best Differentials for Matchday 3
In this article we take a look through some of the UCL Fantasy best differentials for Matchday 3. To help us do that we have brought in expert manager and regular contributor @FplRossoneri who is one of the best in the community at finding them.
Differentials are players with low ownership within the game. They help to gain rank or an edge over your mini-league rivals. Because of this it can be absolutely vital to know who the best differentials for Matchday 3 are.
Introduction
Welcome to my UCL Fantasy best differentials for Matchday 3 article. For each Matchday, I go through the best differentials UCL Fantasy managers can target to increase their overall ranks and be a step ahead of their competition.
All players mentioned here will have less than 10% ownership. As always, I want to take the opportunity to thank the wonderful team @FFCommunity for giving me this platform to continue talking about UCL Fantasy. It is a game I absolutely love and have been playing for over 5+ years now.
Lastly, before I get into the meat of it, I am again super thankful to everyone who has supported my articles by giving them a read. The amount of love the MD1 and MD2 articles have got thus far means the world to me. I have loved each and every feedback and your support is one of the major reasons I keep going, so thank you, my lovely readers.
Antoine Griezmann, Atletico, 10.5M, TSB: 2%
In the last year or so Griezmann by far has been Atletico’s best player. He amassed 15 goals and 16 assists in 31 starts last season. This season Griezmann has again shown he can still bang in the goals and be a talisman. So far he has scored seven goals in just nine starts and looks great up top with Morata.
Atletico as a team have started off well in La Liga keeping four clean sheets but more importantly, beat city rivals in the Madrid derby a few weeks ago. Griezmann is currently only owned by 2% of all UCL Fantasy managers and with Atletico set to play Celtic in MD3, he could be a great differential option for your squads.
Wenderson Galeno, FC Porto , 6.6M, TSB: 6%
Galeno has been a great asset for FC Porto for the last year or so taking up the mantle of their main man and MD1 showed why when he got two goals and one assist against Shakhtar. Last season he conjured up eight goals and three assists in just 20 starts for Porto showing his versatility in scoring and assisting at the same time.
Point to note also is Galeno is Porto’s penalty taker as well so it’s another route to points. He is still only owned by 6% of managers in UCL Fantasy and with Porto playing Royal Antwerp in MD3, he can easily get you a big points haul.
Kieran Trippier, Newcastle, 6M, TSB: 7%
First of all, it is so good to see Newcastle United back in the Champions League again after so many years and they have not disappointed at all in the two MDs so far drawing 0-0 in Milan and thumping PSG 4-1 at home.
Trippier has been a fan-favourite for a lot of FPL managers over the years given his explosive nature of getting assists and scoring free kicks. He had a wonderful 22/23 Premier League season where he finished with one goal and seven assists in the whole season playing right back and helping Newcastle finish in the UCL spot.
He has started off well again this year and already has six assists in just nine starts. Trippier is a great differential pick at just 7% ownership and for that reason is a great addition into my UCL Fantasy best differentials for Matchday 3.
Diogo Costa, FC Porto, 5.5M, TSB: 5%
Costa’s name will go down in UCL Fantasy folklore after the campaign he had last year. Then he saved three penalties in three consecutive MDs. He even got an assist to rack up 58 UCL Fantasy points in eight games. Costa and Porto have started slow this new season only keeping two clean sheets in eight games but I expect them to do better moving forward.
Costa is currently only owned by 5% of managers probably because of his increased price of 5.5M. However, he still is a good differential GK to own given he plays Royal Antwerp in MD3.
Lautaro Martinez, Inter Milan, 9M, TSB: 9%
Lautaro Martinez has clearly become Inter Milan’s talisman in the last few years, especially with the departures of players like Romelu Lukaku and Brozovic. He has consistently hit double digits for goals in each of the last four years showcasing his form over a prolonged period.
Last season Martinez scored 21 goals and six assists in the whole season and stood out as one the best players in Serie A. This season again Martinez has started strong with 11 goals and one assist in just nine starts in Serie A. Inter Milan plays Salzburg at home in MD3 and I expect him to do quite well in that game.
Bruno Fernandes, Manchester United, 9.5M, TSB: 5%
Another player who can be considered essential in their team is Bruno Fernandes at Man United. In the fourth year of his United stint, Bruno has contributed 38 goals and 27 assists in 113 starts and cemented himself as one of their main players.
Bruno boasts penalties and set-piece duties and adds to his goal-scoring and assist-making capabilities and he is central to how Man United play under Erik Ten Haag. Man United welcome FC Copenhagen to Old Trafford in MD3 and it is a great fixture to get some points on board after two defeats vs Munich and Galatasaray in MD1 and MD2 respectively. Currently only owned by a mere 5% Bruno could definitely be the differential you to be looking at to gain OR in MD3.
Osman Bukari, Crvena Zvezda, 6.1M, TSB: 1%
I always love including an Uber differential that literally no one owns. That player this MD is Osman Bukari who plays for Red Star Belgrade. Bukari is having quite a season so far with three goals domestically and more importantly two goals and one assist in two games in UCL Fantasy so far. Bukari looks to be in form and loves being the go-to guy for goals for Crvena Zvezda. I also feel Leipzig can leak goals from time to time.
Notable mentions
Here I would like to mention a few other names according to their position, price & ownership
respectively who caught my attention and can be considered as good differential options for
MD3 as well:
- GK – Nick Pope (5.5M) – 3%, J Oblak (6M) – 5%
- DEF – Diego Dalot (5M) – 1%, N Molina (6M) – 3%, Andreas Christensen (5M) – 2%
- MID – Brais Mendez (6.6M) – 4%, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (9.5M) – 8%, A Gordon (5.5M) – 2%
- FWD – Rasmus Hojlund (7M) – 5%, Santiago Gimenez (7.5M) – 1%, L Openda (7.5M) – 2%
