UCL Fantasy Best Captain for Matchday 3

In this article we take a look at the UCL Fantasy best captain for Matchday 3 using stats, team and player form and any other factors that can help us. We also take a look at some differential and alternative captaincy options for those looking to gain an edge over the masses.

Looking at the UCL Fantasy best captain for Matchday 3 is absolutely crucial for managers. Captaincy is one of the most important factors in the game which can help towards overall rank, chip strategy and transfers.

Best Tuesday Captain

Bayern play in the early kick-off which means UCL Fantasy managers have the opportunity to check the line-ups before the official deadline. This alone is a huge appeal because we can make sure our captain is actually starting, something we don’t get to do that often.

Bayern are in top form in general. In their last 10 matches in all competitions the German side have won a huge eight and drawn twice, two of those same wins came in the Champions League. Interestingly in the same 10 games Bayern also netted a massive 32 goals which is an average of 3.2 goals scored per game.

Galatasaray lay ahead and although exciting to watch there are huge question marks of their defence. The Turkish league leaders have conceded two goals in both of their first UCL matches which paints a huge target on their back.

The best way to target Galatasaray could be with Harry Kane (€10m). The English international record breaker has been relentless since making the move to Germany. In the 10 matches he’s played for Bayern so far he’s netted 10 goals and produced five assists. Kane leads one of the most fearless attacks in Europe and also take their penalties so stands out as the best UCL Fantasy best captain for Matchday 3.

Another fantastic option could be midfielder Leroy Sane (€9.1m). The German is also having a brilliant season and seems to have built a very efficient connection with new striker Kane. Sane is seen as Mr UCL Fantasy by the community. That’s largely due to the fact he’s banked a whopping 17 goal contributions in his last two Champions League campaigns.

Sane can earn an additional point from a clean sheet and each goal scored that a striker cannot. In terms of form Sane is up there with the best midfielders. In fact, in 12 matches played Sane has scored seven goals and registered one assist.

Tuesday differential captaincy

For those looking to gain rank it could be worth selecting a differential captain. Some could opt for a Real Madrid player. The Spanish giants have started their new European campaign extremely well winning both. They are also in good overall form. In their last 10 matches in all competitions they have lost just once. In the same period they also won eight.

Real Madrid face Braga next up. Whilst many would expect them to be dominant domestically that is not the case and they sit fourth. They’ve been an exciting watch in the Champions League so far but have shown major defensive fragilities conceding two in both.

With the above in mind Jude Bellingham (€7.6m) is the obvious move. Since joining Bellingham has been relentless in terms of output. Bellingham has already amassed a huge 11 goals and three assists. He also banked two double-digit hauls in his last two UCL games.

Another great differential captain could be midfielder Vinicius Junior (€11m). The Brazilian has shown massive consistency in the UCL before. In his 22/23 Champions League campaign Vinicius collected seven goals and five assists in 12 games.

Some could even consider captaining an Inter defender. The Italian side face a poor Salzburg next up. Inter also play with a wing-back system of which both Federico Dimarco (€5.5m) and Denzel Dumfries (€5.5m) feature in. Both wing-backs have huge attacking threat and mixed with the clean sheet it could mean big potential.

Best Wednesday captain

Manchester City are back to winning ways after their recent 2-1 league victory over Brighton. With that we could see a huge turnaround in terms of form which many football fans expected anyway. The English league and Champions League holders are not a team to underestimate.

Regularly maintaining an average of 3+ goals scored per game Manchester City have become one of the efficient attacks in world football. This makes them even more appealing when it comes to their assets and captaincy.

Manchester City come up against Young Boys next. The Swiss side have consistently failed to look convincing in the Champions League. They have also conceded two or three goals and each of their first UCL matches which is a huge concern for them as they are yet to face the most lethal attack in the Group.

The standout option in the Manchester City attack is Erling Haaland (€11.5m). The Norwegian racked up an incredible 57 goal contributions from the Premier League and Champions League last season which emphasises how much potential he has moving forward. Haaland has already banked 11 attacking returns this season. He also takes his sides penalties which gives him the edge over his attacking teammates.

Another great captaincy option could be Julian Alvarez (€7.1m). The Argentine seems to be in better form than Haaland recently with five goals and three assists in his last eight matches in all competitions. Backing against Haaland could be dangerous but placing the armband on a teammate could be less risky.

Wednesday differential captaincy

It is riskier selecting a differential captain on the Wednesday because there is no fall back on the day after unlike with Tuesday. However, for those still adamant on it there are actually lots of different options for the armband on the second day.

One of the many differential captaincy options is Leipzig striker Loïs Openda (€7.5m). Leipzig look back to their attacking best with their recent 3-1 victory in the Bundesliga. Their attacking form will be key to massive rewards this week as they come up against Crvena zvezda.

Crvena zvezda aren’t shy of scoring goals and they’ve shown that in both of their Champions League matches. What they have also shown however is a very poor defensive line and have conceded 2-3 goals in each of their first matches.

Loïs Openda leads the Leipzig front line which is already very appealing. Also, in eight Bundesliga matches so far this season he has scored six goals and created two assists. Two of those goals came in his latest matche so he’ll have huge confidence going into Matchday 3.

Other great differential captain options include Atletico strikers Antoine Griezmann (€10.5m) and Alvaro Morata (€7.5m) who come up against a poor Celtic defence next. Both players are also in great form recently.
