Transfers and gossip up to July 11th

We catch up with some of the transfers and gossip up to July 11th, with the help of reputable sources.

Following the media’s many transfers and gossip stories can be tiresome. The majority either fall through or have been tactically planted by one of the parties involved. Yet those that do come to fruition can have a huge effect on a range of Fantasy games.

Here are a few of the more interesting rumours from the last few days.

Transfers and gossip

Joshua Zirkzee (from Bologna to Man United)

Many current rumours revolve around Man United, whether it’s defenders, midfielders or forwards. Zirkzee is the latter, seemingly set to add competition to Rasmus Hojlund.

Just 13 goals have arrived in two Serie A campaigns but, after helping Bologna qualify for the Champions League, he’ll be part of a desertion including manager Thiago Motta and defender Riccardo Calafiori.

With Erik ten Hag confirmed to be staying in charge, the club are being heavily linked with Matthijs de Ligt, Jarrad Branthwaite and Manuel Ugarte. Funding these will be the probable sales of Mason Greenwood, Jadon Sancho and Casemiro and a big chunk of Zirkzee’s €40m fee will go to former club Bayern Munich.

The 6ft 4in forward only made his Netherlands debut in the Euro 2024 quarter-final versus Turkey.

Caleb Okoli (from Atalanta to Leicester)

Meanwhile, another Serie A departure to the Premier League has taken 22-year-old defender Okoli from Atalanta to Leicester. It’s a done deal, costing the Foxes £13m.

Wout Faes and Jannik Vestergaard were their centre-back combination on the way to promotion but the Italian Under-21 international’s pace will be a welcome addition,

Educated by the brilliant Atalanta academy, he started 35 times for Frosinone in 2023/24. Although a tall 6ft 3in, just one goal has arrived in four seasons, which may deter Fantasy managers.

Moise Kean (from Juventus to Fiorentina)

Former Everton flop Kean only netted twice throughout his 2019/20 FPL season and he’s struggled in subsequent loan moves to Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.

Goalless in 2023/24, he missed a chunk of time because of a shin injury.

It’s allowed the Italian international to join Fiorentina at a low €13m, which could later rise to €18m.

Karim Adeyemi (from Dortmund to Chelsea)

There’s a desperation to keep buying players at Chelsea and – after missing out on Michael Olise – they’ve reportedly identified Dortmund’s Adeyemi as one to target.

Born in Germany to Nigerian and Romanian parents, his 19 goals in 2021/22 convinced the Bundesliga side to sign him from RB Salzburg. Goals have dropped off but he started the latest Champions League final and maintains some scarily fast pace, despite ankle issues.

Rumours suggest the fee could be as low as £25m for the 22-year-old. FPL managers would still need to wait though, in order to see how he’d fit into Enzo Maresca’s squad.
