As the leagues continue around Europe and the rest of the world, many are looking to buy, loan or sell players. We catchup with the transfers and gossip up to August 21st with the help of top tier source Fabrizio Romano and other reliable sources.
Overviewing the transfers and gossip up to August 21st can be a huge help for fantasy managers around the world. Whether it affects Fantasy Premier League, UCL Fantasy or another Fantasy game, we look at what the deal could mean for the player or team from a fantasy point of view.
Manchester United seek another goalkeeper
Fabrizio Romano stated that Manchester United are looking at a move for another goalkeeper. Odisseas Vlachodimos is expected to leave Benfica and the Premier League side are targeting him as a back-up goalkeeper to Andre Onana.
What does the move mean of it goes through? Well Vlachodimos has quietly gone under the radar over the least several seasons but is up there with some of the best in Europe. The 29-year-old managed to keep an impressive 20 clean sheets in his 22/23 domestic league campaign.
Vlachodimos has already proved himself in Europe too – helping his side reach the Champions League quarter-final last season. Manchester United may intend on using him as a back-up but there is a high chance, due to his quality, that he could challenge Andre for first choice.
Could Digne be leaving Villa?
Fabrizio also confirmed that French side OGC Nice are advancing in their talks to sign Lucas Digne from Aston Villa. He adds that the clubs are also in contact and on the players side. The deal looks set to be a loan move but with the option to buy.
Lucas Dine is a left-back and has been a mainstay in the Premier League for some time now. The former Everton man proved his potential in Gameweek 2 where he picked up 10 points for his assist and clean sheet. Although ultimately a loss for Aston Villa offensively, it also makes Alex Moreno more reliable in terms of minutes when he returns from injury.
Pavard looks to move
Inter are ready to pay more than €30m with add-ons for Pavard and Bayern are aware of it. Fabrizio adds that one of the crucial factors to the move is whether Bayern can find a capable replacement which would then give Pavard the green light to move if so.
Pavard has played a huge role for the German giants over the last several years, The 27-year-old Frenchman can play in the centre-back and right-back role. If Pavard was competently replaced by Bayern and brought in by Inter then both clubs could offer plenty of rotation in Bundesliga Fantasy, Serie A Fantasy and UCL Fantasy at the back.
Berardi looks set to stay
Sassuolo CEO Carnevali stated that Domenico Berardi will be staying this season. He also added that he will not be joining fellow Serie A side Juventus because it is too late. According to Carnevali there was no agreement with Juventus in terms of the final fee.
Berardi has shown his class on the world stage for Italy over the years. The 29-year-old Italian plays his football on the right-wing which is where he has had most of his success. Last season domestically Berardi produced 12 goals and seven assists for Sassuolo but with a high price-tag of €10m in Serie A Fantasy, Will managers still be backing him?
Montiel to Nottingham Forest
Fabrizio also covered the situation around Gonzalo Montiel who is set to sign for Premier League club Nottingham Forest. The deal is set to cost 11m and the agreement on personal terms are being agreed with a medical Monday.
So who is Gonzalo Montiel? Well Montiel is a 26-year-old Argentine who plays in a right-back position for Sevilla in La Liga. He also featured in Argentina’ recent World Cup win. Nottingham Forest have an array of full-back options which could mean plenty of rotation in the backline.
