Transfer rumours: Tarkowski to the Toffee’s
When Burnley were relegated there was a lot of chatter in the community that many of their big players might leave. This is especially true of the players such as James Tarkowski, Ben Mee, Aaron Lennon and Erik Pieters. Tarkowski to the Toffee’s is a rumour that seems to be growing traction.
Centre-back Tarkowski was Burnley’s highest scoring FPL defender last season. He returned 83 points in 35 starts for the club. Tarkowski returned three attacking returns in the last campaign with one goal and two assists.
The inconsistencies in the Burnley defence as a result of injuries and managerial changes meant that the Clarets only kept seven clean sheets and conceded 51 goals. Reducing Tarkowski’s appeal. However, in previous seasons Tarkowski has been a excellent FPL option and could be again if he makes the move to the blue half of Merseyside.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Everton will sign Tarkowki on a free transfer and that he has now agreed personal terms.
The transfer rumour is also being reported by other media outlets.
How does Tarkowski compare?
EFC Statto has compared Tarkowksi to the Everton defenders from the 2021/22 season.
Micheal Keane and Mason Holegate where the only Everton defenders to return more attacking returns than Tarkowski in 2021/22.
None of the Everton defenders had a better expected goal (xG) tally than Tarkowski’s last season. This is also true for expected goal involvements (xGI)
If the Tarkowski to the Toffee’s rumours prove accurate he could be a great option for FPL managers. This is especially true when you look at Tarkowski’s FPL record beyond just last season.
