Comparing the Tottenham Defensive Assets

When comparing the Tottenham defensive assets we can see that nobody played more minutes than goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario (£5m) with a huge 3420 minutes.

Pedro Porro (£5.5m) was the only other player to exceed the 3000 minute mark. Behind him in third was centre-back Cristian Romero (£5m) who played 2784 minutes.

Left-back Destiny Udogie (£5m) played 2387 minutes and centre-back Micky van de Ven (£4.5m) played 2330 minutes. Both players were hampered by injuries during the 23/24 campaign.

Pedro Porro was well clear of every other defensive teammate when it came to attacking returns. Porro banked a huge 11 goal contributions due to three goals and eight assists.

Interestingly, although well short of Romero for minutes due to injury Udogie still racked up the same amount of goal contributions with five. Micky van de Ven bagged the least returns of the four with three.

Conclusion

Taking into account the lack of clean sheets and poor defensive data for Tottenham last season the standout defensive option could well be Pedro Porro. Porro is more expensive than his teammates but he offers a significant amount of attacking threat and that’s evident from the above.

Destiny Udogie also created a great amount of attacking returns considering his minutes were less than his teammates. £0.5m cheaper than Porro and back to full fitness could mean Udogie becomes very appealing as an asset this season.

Comparing the Tottenham Attackers

It isn’t a surprise that Son Heung-Min (£10m) played more minutes than any other attacker with 2992. Interestingly, not far behind Son was midfielder Dejan Kulusevski (£6.5m) after playing 2784 minutes.

One of two other players to play more than 2000 minutes was midfielder Brennan Johnson (£6.5m). The other was midfielder James Maddison (£7.5m). Maddison missed a considerable amount of time due to injury so his tally could have been much higher.

Completing the top five for gametime was forward Richarlison (£7m) after playing 1561 minutes.

Son Heung-Min remains at the top of the pile when it comes to attacking returns after banking a huge 27. 10 short of Son but still managing an impressive tally was Brennan Johnson who scored five goals and created 12 assists.

James Maddison sits joint third on the list with Richarlison after hitting 15 goal contributions.

Kulusevski played the second most minutes but only produced 11 attacking returns.

Conclusion

The standout attacking option for Tottenham is penalty taker and Talisman Son Heung-Min. Not only is Son their most reliable attacker in terms of gametime but he is also their most dangerous attacker.

Taking into account his price, position change and how effective he was last season with his minutes Brennan Johnson should also be a serious consideration.

James Maddison has also proven crucial for the Tottenham frontline so he could be an interesting differential.
