Top Picks for Women’s EURO Fantasy Matchday 2

If you’re looking to get ahead in the game, this article covers the top picks for Women’s EURO Fantasy Matchday 2. With team news, fixture difficulty, and player form in mind, we’ve identified the best options to give your squad the strongest possible start.

Whether you’re chasing clean sheets or hunting for attacking returns, these are the standout names to consider ahead of the opening round.

Goalkeepers

Between the sticks there is plenty of options to choose from. One of the best is Sweden’ Jennifer Falk. Sweden have a fantastic fixture against Poland this week and Falk heads into the clash off the back of securing a clean sheet in Matchday 1.

Another side with a very good fixture is France, who battle with EURO newcomers Wales. Wales are one of the lowest ranked sides in the competition which could suggest clean sheet potential for France and their goalkeeper Pauline Peyraud-Magnin.

Spain’ complete performance against Portugal in Matchday 1 was a fantastic display of their strength. They have another great opening this week as they face Belgium, which makes Adriana Nanclares a great pick.

Defenders

Spain offer clean sheet and attacking potential going into any given match, so backing them will be crucial. Ona Battlle’ early substitution in Matchday 1 now makes Olga Carmona the standout at the back. Her assist in the first round helps top off her overall appeal.

The game between France and Wales could see potential across the board. France are huge favourites for the match, so backing them defensively makes sense. Left-back Selma Bacha bagged two assists in her four matches prior to the tournament, so evidently offers multiple routes to points.

Staying with France, one player to keep an eye on is Sakina Karchaoui. Playing in midfield and in a number 10 role recently, Karchaoui could play out of position, which gives her a positional advantage over her defensive teammates from an offensive perspective.

Lots of defender picks could have success this week, including Sweden centre-back Nathalie Bjorn v Poland, Norway’ Tuva Hansen against Finland, and Germany’ Sarai Linder against Denmark.

Midfielders

Top Picks for Women’s EURO Fantasy Matchday 2

After scoring five goals in Matchday 1, Spain appear to be one of the best sides to invest in from an attacking perspective. One of their stars is Matchday 1 player of the match winner Alexia Pustellas. Pustellas was fantastic in the opening round and was rewarded with her goal.

Doubling up on the Spain attack could be absolutely essential when taking into account their form and fixture against Belgium. With that in mind, adding Mariona Caldentey into the mix could prove rewarding yet again. Caldentey was just one point shy of her teammate in the first round due to registering two assists and producing six ball recoveries.

Sweden’ Filippa Angeldahl was another player who made an early impression in Matchday 1. As well as scoring, which was her third consectuive goal in as many matches, she also created one key pass, had six attempts on goal and won the player of the match award.

Germany may have won just 2-0 against Poland in the previous game, but statistically, it was an onslaught. They ended the game having managed a huge 25 shots and a meeting with Denmark next could mean more opportunities for duo Klara Buhl and Jule Brand.

There is a huge abundance of brilliant midfield picks this week. Among them is France’ Grace Geyoro who has netted five goals in her previous six matches and faces Wales this week. Other good picks include Norway duo Frida Manum and Guro Reiten who clash with Finland.

There are plenty of routes into the France frontline. Wales lay ahead, so we should see plenty of goals. Chelsea star Sandy Baltimore has impressed for both club and country recently – scoring four goals and registering one assist in her previous four matches alone.

Whilst there is some rotation in the Spain frontline, 32-year-old Esther Gonzalez is very likely to feature. Gonzalez bagged 10 goals in 13 NWSL matches. She has also been extremely explosive when playing for country – hitting a brace in two of her previous four games.

Stina Blackstenius may have been extremely frustrating in Matchday 1, but she is a constant threat. The Arsenal forward produced one shot on target, two shots off target, had two shots blocked and missed a big chance during her previous match, but Poland next up could see her get back among the goals.

Norway’ Ada Hegerberg, Italy’ Cristiana Girelli and Germany’ Lea Schuller are three more forwards who could return this week.
