The Championship is heating up as we head into the latter stages of the season. It’s a quick turnaround this week. Because of that we bring in our regular contributor @TomP_FF. He takes us through all of the top picks for GAFFR Gameweek 45.
Top picks can be extremely helpful to the GAFFR community. Knowing who the best players to buy week in week out can be super beneficial. It can also help with things like transfers, captaincy, chip strategy and long-term planning.
Top Picks – Defenders – Leif Davis
Ipswich play twice this week so their assets are likely to be very popular. With that in mind one of the best players you can go into this week with is Leif Davis who has produced a jaw-dropping 17 assists and two goals this season.
Milan Van Ewijk
Coventry also play twice this week with matches against Ipswich and Blackburn. Because of this investing in their backline could be key and Milan van Ewijk could be the standout pick. He racked up three assists in his last six matches so has plenty of attacking threat too.
Differential Pick – Cameron Pring
Bristol City have been excellent defensively recently – keeping four full clean sheets and two half clean sheets in their last six games. This could continue this week with a meeting against Rotherham who have failed to score in all four of their last matches. Cameron Pring could be a solid route into the defence with attacking threat in his wing-back position.
Midfielders – Crysencio Summerville
QPR have been hit and miss recently, more miss in fact from a defensive perspective. The best player to target their defence is of course Crysencio Summerville. Summerville seems to have found his form again after a mini slump – bagging four goals and one assist in his last six league games.
Differential Pick – Callum O’Hare
The Coventry double Gameweek makes it extremely difficult to avoid their frontline. In February Callum O’Hare hit a purple patch of form – scoring three goals and creating three assists in a four match period. He may be about to enter another patch similar to that after scoring in his recent Cup game against Manchester United.
Omari Hutchinson
Ipswich will be hoping to bounce back this week after failing to win any of their last three league games. Only one other side have netted more goals than Ipswich however this season so it may not be long before we see them firing on all cylinders again. One way to benefit from that this week is via Omari Hutchinson. In the five matches prior to the last five Hutchinson managed four goals and one assist, showing he can be extremely influential.
Forwards – Conor Chaplin
Hutchinson could be a great option this week but the standout attacker is of course Conor Chaplin. Chaplin has been excellent this season and with 20 attacking returns in 40 matches this season, Chaplin could well become a standout captaincy option.
Ellis Simms
Another player many should consider for a captaincy armband is Ellis Simms. Simms has become one of the most in-form players in the entire league as of late. In fact, in his last 10 matches Simms has accumulated a mammoth 10 goals and two assists, which shows incredible attacking form.
Haji Wright
The Coventry double Gameweek could be a great round to go a little different in an attempt to gain ground. So, with that in mind, Haji Wright could be an exceptional alternative. Wright remains the Coventry penalty taker which is significant but also in his last 10 matches has produced seven goals and one assist, which is still extremely impressive.
