Top picks for GAFFR Gameweek 43
The Championship is heating up as we head into the latter stages of the season. It’s a quick turnaround this week. Because of that we bring in our regular contributor @TomP_FF. He takes us through all of the top picks for GAFFR Gameweek 43.
Top picks can be extremely helpful to the GAFFR community. Knowing who the best players to buy week in week out can be super beneficial. It can also help with things like transfers, captaincy, chip strategy and long-term planning.
Top Picks – Defenders – Kyle Walker-Peters
Southampton have two home matches this week as part of their Double Gameweek. Because of this it could be wise to invest defensively and Kyle Walker-Peters is the standout. He scored in his recent match making it three goals and two assists for the season.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis
Owning Kyle Walker-Peters may not be enough to benefit from potential Southampton clean sheets. So, another of their defensive options is Taylor Harwood-Bellis who has cemented his place at centre-back. It is also worth noting that Harwood-Bellis has registered two goals and two assists this season.
Differential Pick – Robbie Brady
Preston are another side with a Double Gameweek as they face Southampton and Norich. The Double is far from easy defensively but they have managed three clean sheets in their last five league games. One option managers could back is of course Robbie Brady who plays at wing-back and has bagged a goal and two assists this season already.
Midfielders – Crysencio Summerville
Leeds will be hoping to bounce back after failing to win any of their last two league matches. They have a great opportunity to do that as they face a Blackburn side who shipped five goals in their last match. Crysencio Summerville remains their standout attacking pick with 17 goals and eight assists this season already.
Fabio Carvalho
Hull come up against QPR at home this week which could be a good opportunity for an attacker like Fabio Carvalho. The Portuguese maestro has been in top form recently after hitting four goals in his last five league matches.
Differential Pick – Joe Aribo
The Southampton Double Gameweek makes it extremely tempting to look for a midfielder to bring in. Although difficult to find a convincing one, Joe Aribo could be worth a punt. Interestingly two of Aribo’ four attacking returns this season have come in his last six matches.
Forwards – Adam Armstrong
Leading the Southampton attack and standing out as the best captaincy option for this week is Adam Armstrong. With an incredible 31 attacking returns this season from 40 matches, Armstrong has become an essential in GAFFR, not captaining him could mean trouble for both rank and mini-league position this week.
Ellis Simms
Coventry come up against Birmingham next, a side who have lost five of their last six matches. In better form than most other players in the league, Simms has notched up a mammoth 12 goals and one assist in his last 10 matches.
Differential Pick – Emil Riis
For those looking to invest in the Preston attack for their Double Gameweek then Emil Riis stands out. Riis hit just five goals last season but he has already beaten that total with six goals and two assists. Riis has played just 16 matches and in that period has averaged an attacking return every other game.
