Top picks for GAFFR Gameweek 39
The Championship is heating up as we head into the latter stages of the season. It’s a quick turnaround this week. Because of that we bring in our regular contributor @TomP_FF. He takes us through all of the top picks for GAFFR Gameweek 39.
Top picks can be extremely helpful to the GAFFR community. Knowing who the best players to buy week in week out can be super beneficial. It can also help with things like transfers, captaincy, chip strategy and long-term planning.
Defenders – Kyle Walker-Peters
Southampton have a home match against Middlesbrough this week and their standout defender returns to the starting line-up. Kyle Walker-Peters is the pick of the bunch at the back having managed two goals and two assists already this season.
Leif Davis
Blackburn have been extremely underwhelming recently after failing to win any of their last eight matches. One player who can take advantage of that is Leif Davis who has collected a huge 15 attacking returns this season.
Differential Defender – Jordan Storey
With four full clean sheets in their last seven matches, Preston have made some huge defensive improvements recently. They also come up against Rotherham next up, a side who have failed to score in their last four consecutive matches. Because of this someone like Jordan Storey could have solid potential.
Midfielders – Crysencio Summerville
As things stand Leeds sit top of the table. This was helped by winning five of their last six matches. They continue to score plenty of goals game after game and they face the inconsistent Watford next up. Crysencio Summerville remains the standout attacking option at Leeds with a massive 23 goal contributions so far.
Mikey Johnston
West Brom have entered the play-offs after winning three of their last four matches whilst also netting between 2-4 goals in each of them. Mikey Johnston seems to have cemented his position in the frontline and that’s no surprise after scoring four goals and creating one assist in his last four matches.
Differential Midfielder – Mads Frokjaer-Jensen
Preston haven’t just got a great opportunity to keep a clean sheet this week. Rotherham have shipped 17 goals in their last six matches, highlighting them as a team to target. One player who could punish Rotherham is Mads Frøkjær-Jensen who has created four key passes, one big chance and an assist in his last three league games.
Forwards – Ellis Simms
Coventry can’t stop scoring recently with 16 goals in their last five matches in all competitions. They have a great chance to extend that this week with a match against Huddersfield. One of the biggest factors towards Coventry’ latest form is of course Ellis Simms who has managed an impressive two hattricks and a brace in the same five-match period.
Josh Sargent
Norwich are another side in good scoring form with nine goals in their last three matches. Plymouth lay ahead for Norwich, a side who have conceded the third most goals in the league. Because of this and his eight goals in the last 10 matches, Josh Sargent has the form to scrutinise a poor away defence.
Differential Forward – Will Keane
Whilst teammate Mads Frokjaer-Jensen could have potential this week against Rotherham so could Will Keane. Keane leads the Preston frontline going into a meeting against one of the worst defences in the league with 12 goals under his belt already.
