Top picks for GAFFR Gameweek 37
The Championship is heating up as we head into the latter stages of the season. It’s a quick turnaround this week. Because of that we bring in our regular contributor @TomP_FF. He takes us through all of the top picks for GAFFR Gameweek 37.
Top picks can be extremely helpful to the GAFFR community. Knowing who the best players to buy week in week out can be super beneficial. It can also help with things like transfers, captaincy, chip strategy and long-term planning.
Defenders – Leif Davis
Ipswich sit second in the league after a fantastic recent run. They face a Cardiff side next who have failed to score in three of their last six matches. One player we should be looking to is Leif Davis who looks back to his attacking best after scoring and creating two assists in his latest match.
Luke Ayling
Middlesborough play QPR and Birmingham this week. Yes, they have a Double Gameweek which makes their assets even more appealing, regardless of form. One route into the backline is of course Luke Ayling. The former Leeds man has solidified his position at full-back and also has attacking potential, having scored and assisted already this season.
Differential Defender – Ethan Laird
Birmingham also have a Double Gameweek in the round ahead. They face both Millwall and Middlesbrough this week which could give someone like Ethan Laird potential. With four attempts at a clean sheet, Laird could be a great pick this week.
Midfielders – Crysencio Summerville
Leeds have a great fixture this week against Sheffield Wednesday. In attack Crysencio Summerville seems to be suffering through a mini-slump in terms of output. However, with a huge 15 goals and eight assists this season already, it may not be long before he gets back to his best.
Sammie Szmodics
Blackburn have one of the best fixtures you can have on paper this week, Plymouth at home. The newly promoted side have conceded a mammoth 60 goals this season. Blackburn may have been inconsistent this season but one player who is not is Sammie Szmodics. Not only has Szmodics scored in each of his last three matches but he has also managed a huge 20 goals this campaign.
Differential Midfielder – Koji Miyoshi
Birmingham have two good opportunities to score goals this week. One of their standout attackers recently is Koji Miyoshi. Whilst 10 attacking returns this season is a solid total playing for Birmingham, three of those attacking returns have come in his last three matches which highlights a good run of form.
Forwards – Georginio Rutter
Leeds have a very good fixture this week, a perfect chance to get back to scoring heaps of goals after scoring just one in each of their last two matches. One of their most reliable players for gametime recently is Georginio Rutter who has started a huge 34 matches, scored six goals and registered a huge 12 assists so far already.
Josh Sargent
Norwich are in a very impressive run of form, winning four, drawing two and scoring 14 goals in their last six league matches. One of the reasons for that is the in-form Josh Sargent who has netted an impressive six times in his last six matches. Sargent faces a poor Rotherham defence with a new found form.
Differential Forward – Jay Stansfield
Another Birmingham attacker we could back going into their Double Gameweek is Jay Stansfield. The 21-year-old has impressed for the Blues this season, and has already picked up a cool nine goals and two assists this season.
