Top 5 Midfielders to Pick in Fantasy EFL 2025/26

As part of our summer series preparing Fantasy EFL managers for the new campaign, we’re breaking down the best picks in each position ahead of the 2025/26 season. In this article, we focus on the top 5 midfielders to pick in Fantasy EFL 2025/26.
Whether you’re building an early draft or planning transfers, these are the midfielders to keep on your radar. To help us we brought in Fantasy EFL expert @Fantasy_Feetzz.
Before I get to my predicted top 5 midfielders, I want to commend the team at Fantasy EFL for balancing the points system in the close season.
Everybody has their own theory for success going into the second season of FEFL. Mine is that the 2-3-1 formation, and midfielders in particular, will be the standout players this season. With (+1) for every shot on target, (+1) for every two key passes, and (+2) for every interception, there are so many routes to points. And that’s before even factoring in assists (+3) and goals (+6).
So, with that said, who should you pick?
Omari Hutchinson (Ipswich)
Hutchinson registered a cool 18 shots on target during his top flight last campaign last season. His ability to beat a man and get a shot off, especially with lesser opposition in the Championship, Hutchinson could be on for one hell of a season if he is able to convert those types of effort into goals.
Lewis Wing (Reading)

The undisputed king of midfield last season, Wing racked up an incredible 297 points from nine goals, 10 assists, 74 key passes, 48 interceptions and 24 shots on target. As the key man on set pieces too, Wing’s multiple routes to points makes him a no-brainer for another successful season.
Davis Keillor-Dunn (Barnsley)

After a storming season in which he bagged a very commendable 270 points, ‘DKD’ plays high up the field in the forward spaces and he was continuously rewarded for his prowess in 2024/25. Nobody had more shots on target in League One, with DKD clocking up 43. Combine that with eight assists and an unbelievable 18 goals, and he’s a very hard man to look beyond.

Will Collar (MK Dons)

New to the team but certainly not to League Two, Collar will be raring to prove he still has the ability to put defences to the sword at this level. After scoring eight goals for Stockport last season in League One, Collar joins an MK side that is going to be gunning for promotion. He will be looking to strike a partnership with Aaron Collins in front of him too, who will appreciate the assists that Collar could ultimately supply.
Jack Payne (Colchester)

After racking up an amazing 15 assists and eight goals last term, Payne will be ready to go again for the season ahead after demonstrating his all-round game, with 12 interceptions, 94 key passes and a whopping 32 shots on target. He is on all set pieces, including penalties, and so he is probably my favourite amongst the five to finish top of the tree.
