Top 10 most popular FPL picks for Gameweek 9

The new round is approaching and many within the community have started making early changes to their teams. Because of this we check out the highest owned players in the game and pick out the top 10 most popular FPL picks for Gameweek 9 with the help of the Fantasy Premier League website.

Player ownership has become a massive part of Fantasy Premier League so knowing the top 10 most popular FPL picks for Gameweek 9 can help when it comes to making hard decisions regarding the use of transfers, captaincy and more.

The Top Five

  • Erling Haaland (89.5%) – Although the Manchester City striker has lost some ownership he still ranks as the highest selected in the game. He comes up against Brighton next who have been extremely poor at the back.
  • Bukayo Saka (51%) – Similar to Haaland Saka has also dropped in terms of ownership. The second highest owned player in the game has an interesting matchup against London rivals Chelsea next so those that stayed faithful will be hoping for a return.
  • Kieran Trippier (45.7%) – The Newcastle full-back is now the most selected defender in the game after his recent success. He faces Crystal Palace up next so it could be a great opportunity to extend his run of form.
  • Kaoru Mitoma (40.9%) – We could see the Japanese international rise even higher in terms of ownership over the next several rounds. However, for now Mitoma faces a mammoth task against league leaders Manchester City up next.
  • Pervis Estupinan (39.9%) – Brighton are yet to keep a single clean sheet at the time of writing but the full-back is also injured. Even if he wasn’t he would have to try to return against a strong Manchester City side next up. Estupinan’ ownership continues to plummet.

Who else makes the top 10?

  • James Maddison (37.1%) – Maddison could continue his strong start to the new campaign. He has a match against a poor defensive side next in Fulham. His ownership continues to increase with his performances.
  • Alphonse Areola (34.3%) – West Ham’ number one is now the highest selected goalkeeper in the game. He faces a tough challenge ahead against Aston Villa who have started the season very well.
  • Son Heung-min (33.9%) – Son has huge potential against the poor Fulham backline up next. Whilst playing in a strikers role Son has bagged two double-digit returns in four matches. His ownership also continues to drive up.
  • Mohamed Salah (33.4%) – Salah is another player many within the community are flocking to ahead of his match against the struggling Everton in Gameweek 9. At the time of writing the Egyptian has collected a return in all but one of his matches so far.
  • Julian Alvarez (32.3%) – Completing the list is this man. Alvarez has become instrumental for the Manchester City attack recently and because of that and his form his ownership has increased considerably. Alvarez comes up against a Brighton next who are yet to keep a clean sheet.
