Top 10 Best Midfielders in UCL Fantasy So Far

The international break is here and for Europe’s biggest clubs football is on pause. So, we take the opportunity, with the help of the official UEFA website, to look back and reflect on the top 10 best midfielders in UCL Fantasy so far.

During the international break we will be continuing our coverage of UCL Fantasy. Keeping what has happened fresh in our minds could be hugely helpful for planning when the new round arrives. So, let’s take a look at the best midfielders in UCL Fantasy so far, counting down from 10th.

6th-10th

Squeezing into 10th is Mohamed Salah (€10m) with 16 points. A huge 14 of his 16 points came from his goal, assist and player of the match award against Bologna in Matchday 2. Salah faces Leipzig away from home this week which could be great opportunity to continue his form.

One point ahead of him is Sparta Praha set piece taker Kaan Kairnen (€5.1m). As well as securing a goal and 10 points in Matchday 1 versus Salzburg he also scored and picked up seven points in his Matchday 2 meeting with Stuttgart.

Matching Kairnen on 17 points is Ademola Lookman (€6.5m). Lookman failed to secure an attacking return against Arsenal in the first round but then bagged a huge 14-pointer for his goal, assist, and player for the match award against Shakhtar in Round 3.

Feyenoord’s Jerdy Schouten (€5.5m) sits seventh on the list. The Dutchman collected four points against Juventus in the opening round. Schouten then went onto hit 14 points after scoring, producing 11 ball recoveries and the winning player of the match award. He faces Paris away from home in his next meeting.

Matchday Schouten was Aston Villa’s Youri Tielemans (€6.1m). Aston Villa won both of their first games against Young Boys and Bayern and Tielemans was heavily involved. The Belgian managed just four points against the German giants but prior to that scored, assisted and won the player of the match award to take his Matchday total to 14 points.

5th – Jamie Gittens

Although a wing-back for Dortmund Jamie Gittens (€5.1m) has been categorised as a midfielder in the game. There has accumulated a huge 19 points due to his two goals and player of the match award in Matchday 1 and penalty win in Matchday 2. Real Madrid lay ahead for Dortmund which could see his potential limited.

4th – Hugo Magnetti

One name many will be surprised to see make the top 10 best midfielders in UCL Fantasy so far is Hugo Magnetti (€5.1m). The Brest midfielder impressed in Matchday 1 against Sparta Praha with his goal and 10-point return. He then followed that performance up with 10 ball recoveries and an assist in Matchday 2 against Salzburg. Considering they face a Leverkusen side who have managed two clean sheets so far, he could fall short this week.

3rd – Orkun Kökçü

Another potentially surprising name in the top five is Orkun Kökçü (€6.1m). Benfica have produced two big results against Crvena Zvezda away from home and Atleti at home and Kökçü has benefitted from that. In fact, a goal in Matchday 1 and a goal and a player of the match award in Matchday 2 have both contributed to his overall total of 20 points.

2. Florian Wirtz

Just one point short of top spot is Florian Wirtz (€7.6m). Leverkusen have made a brilliant start to their season – racking up two wins, two clean sheets and five goals. Amongst their goals was Wirtz who bagged a huge 18 points in Matchday 1 due to scoring twice and a player of the match award. He then followed that up with a player of the match award in the second round against Milan. With Brest away next up in Matchday 3, Wirtz could well continue his red hot form.

1st – Karim Adeyemi

Topping the midfielder charts for points is Dortmund man Karim Adeyemi (€7m). Adeyemi blanked in the first round against Club Brugge but responded by collecting up a mammoth 23-pointer against Celtic. The bulk of his points came from his three goals, penalty earned and player of the match award. However, Adeyemi picked up an injury during the game so monitoring his injury status could be key going into Matchday 3.
