The promoted teams

Now that the season has come to a conclusion, we take a look at the promoted teams. We overview the three teams that have gained promotion to biggest League in world football whilst also briefly touching upon their journey.

Looking at the promoted clubs could be a really important step in understanding what they are capable of. This can then in turn give fantasy managers a good idea of how we can either invest in them next season or look to target them.

Burnley

Burnley stormed their Championship campaign finishing top of the pile and claiming the title. They racked up a whopping 101 points in their record breaking return to the second division. In the 46 matches Burnley did play they won 29, drew 14 and lost just three of their games.

It was an excellent campaign for Burnley. They bagged a huge 87 goals and conceded 35. Although commonly known as a defensive unit, manager Vincent Kompany helped change that rhetoric and built a free flowing offensive line.

Sheffield United

Sheffield United have gained promotion after securing the second automatic position. The Blades may have been 10 points shy of first place but that shouldn’t take anything away from their impressive campaign.

One thing worth mentioning is that Sheffield United won 28 of their matches, just one short of Champions Burnley. They also picked up seven draws and 11 losses. The Blades netted 73 goals and conceded 39.

Luton

The third and final team to gain promotion was Luton Town. Their journey to the Premier League was a lot different to Burnley’s and Sheffield United’s. Luton progressed through the play-offs, edging an impressive Sunderland and scraping a win in the final via a penalty shootout against Coventry.

Amongst their success Luton claimed 80 points, which was the third highest in the Championship. In that period they also hit 21 wins, 17 draws and eight losses whilst also bagging 57 goals and conceding 39 goals.
