The Best Nicolas Jackson Replacements in FPL
In this article we take a look at some of the best Nicolas Jackson replacements in FPL. To do this we head over to the Fantasy Football Scout members area, there we can use some of its fantastic tools, including the fixture ticker and underlying data.
Picking out the best Nicolas Jackson replacement in FPL could be extremely important over the coming days and weeks. The Chelsea striker has become a frustrating asset recently – blanking in all of his last four matches, whilst also failing to start one of them.
Should Nicolas Jackson be Given Longer?
The first thing we need to consider, is if it could be worth holding onto him for now. The argument against that would be that he has returned just once in his last seven matches, and did so with a hefty £8.1m price tag.
However, there are several factors backing him still, one of them is fixtures.
We can see that the fixture ticker below, orders teams with the best fixtures at the top, and teams with the worst fixtures at the bottom. We can also see that Chelsea rank around middle of the table.
All seven fixtures Chelsea face, are fixtures they could have attacking potential in, especially against poor defences like Wolves, West Ham and Southampton.
We should also take into account his underlying attacking data. Using the graphic below, among all strikers in the last six matches, Jackson ranks second best for total attempts on goal, and second best for total shots in the box.
Jackson also ranks fifth in that same period for non-penalty expected goal involvement.
It is also worth mentioning that, no forward has produced a worse non-penalty expected goal delta during that same period. This shows that he is massively underperforming on his data.
Fixtures may not be enough for FPL managers, so lets take a look at some of the best Nicolas Jackson replacements.
Alexander Isak
For those that still don’t own Alexander Isak (£9.3m), he is arguably, by far, the best replacement for Nicolas Jackson. Isak isn’t just dominating the stats when compared to every other forward, he’s also in relentless form. In fact, the Swedish international has racked up nine goals and assists in his previous six matches.
Factoring in his team form is also crucial. Newcastle go into their period ahead, having picked up five consecutive wins in their five-previous matches. In addition, only Liverpool scored more goals than the Magpies during the last six league matches.
Chris Wood
Nottingham Forest are having a magnificent campaign thus far. With six wins on the bounce and sitting third in the league, they have become one of the most consistent side in the division. This has also made them a very convincing team for potential investment.
Involved in nearly half of their 29 goals this season, penalty taker Chris Wood (£6.8m) has become a serious contender for a forward spot in our teams long-term. For managers who want Wood, it could be worth holding Jackson for just one more week, especially when considering that Nottingham Forest face Liverpool next up.
Raul Jimenez
Fulham also rank highly on the fixture ticker above. The London club face opposition including West Ham, Leicester and Manchester United in their next three games. The Cottagers have netted two goals in four of their last five matches, which shows they could have huge potential against their upcoming opponents.
Leading their very effective frontline is Raul Jimenez (£5.6m). After a recent dry spell between Gameweek 16-18, the Mexican seems to be back among the goals – netting three times in his previous two matches against Bournemouth and Ipswich. Those who do make the switch between Jackson and Jimenez, will be left with more than £2m budget to spread across the rest of the squad.
Jean Philippe Mateta
Crystal Palace are of course another prime target for investment in the period ahead. As we can see, the Eagles rank top of the fixture ticker above. Losing just one of their last nine matches, Crystal Palace are evidently improving, and they take that form into clashes with Leicester, West Ham, Brentford and Manchester United in the period ahead.
Ending his previous season with nine goals and one assist during his final six league matches, Jean Philippe Mateta (£7.2m), has struggled to repeat that form this campaign. However, with a goal in his most recent game, he could well reignite his previous output.
Other Replacements
There are lots of good striker options out there currently. Some could even look to title challengers Arsenal. One player who could be worth considering in their frontline is Gabriel Jesus (£6.9m). The Brazilian has started his sides four-previous matches, and racked up two double-digit hauls during that time.
Many still don’t own Brighton penalty taker Joao Pedro (£5.7m). Both he and his Brighton side have been unconvincing overall this season, but with back-to-back returns and a decent enough schedule ahead, he could still have potential.
