Arsenal and Manchester City Dumped Out of the Champions League!

The best January transfers

The latest transfer window was full of purchases, sales and loan deals. Let’s take a look at some of the best January transfers below and how that could affect teams and players potential in Fantasy Premier League moving forward.

FPL managers could really benefit from knowing who the best January transfers are. New signings can have a huge affect on team formation, players dropping out, expected minutes, team performance and lots more factors that could help with things like transfers, captaincy and much more.

Mykhailo Mudryk to Chelsea

Chelsea were very busy in the transfer window, spending a record-breaking amount of money. The new owner came in and made a huge statement, showing the fans he was ready to spend big. In what was arguably one of the best transfers in January, Mykhailo Mudryk (£7m) made his €70 million move over to the Blues.

The Ukrainian midfielder predominantly plays his football on the left wing which could directly threaten Christian Pulisic’c minutes. It was his most recent Champions League campaign for Shakhtar Donetsk that really caught the eye, scoring three goals and creating two assists. Mudryk could play a huge part in Chelsea’s starting 11 moving forward, especially with Champions League football coming up.

Enzo Fernandez to Chelsea

Chelsea broke the Premier League record for the largest purchase in English history recently. Enzo Fernandez (£5m) set the Blues back by a whopping €121 million. After a fantastic season with Benfica and even better campaign at the World Cup, the world champion became one of the most wanted footballers in the world.

Fernandez plays in a central midfield role for both club and country. The Argentinian also loves to get forward, create and shoot from range, bagging one goal and five assists in his 17 league games for Benfica this season.

The Chelsea midfield has been struggling with injuries and fitness with the likes of Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante. It is highly likely that Ezno Fernandez solidifies a first team place and add to the Chelsea defence and attack.

Marcel Sabitzer to Manchester United

Manchester United have been very particular about who they signed during the January window. In the past we have seen the Reds panic buy but that seems to have changed under the new manager. Marcel Sabitzer (£5m) is already in training after his loan signing from Bayern, meaning it may not be long before we see him in action,

Sabitzer has played in defensive, central and offensive midfield position, offering plenty of versatility to his new club. At 28 years old the Austrian is arguably hitting his peak and with injuries within the squad, Manchester United will almost certainly benefit from his arrival both defensively and offensively.

Cody Gakpo to Liverpool

Liverpool were in desperate need of additional players during the window but their business ended as soon as it began with Cody Gakpo (£7.8m). The 23-year-old Dutchman had a brilliant domestic campaign with PSV, scoring nine goals and creating a massive 12 assists. He finished his Eredivisie season with a huge 21 goal contributions in 14 games.

Gakpo has the ability to play in multiple attacking roles as both creator and goal scorer. Although it has been a slow start to life in England, he has the the quality to become one of the Premier League’s finest attackers.

Pedro Porro to Tottenham

Another club who have been active during the transfer window is Tottenham. They secured the signing of one of the most exciting full backs in Europe. Portuguese right back Pedro Porro (£5m) has joined the club on a permanent deal.

Tottenham play with a wing back system so they can exploit Porro’s offensive explosiveness. He managed an impressive two goals and six assists this season at Sporting in just 14 league matches. With Matt Doherty’s loan move to Atletico Madrid, it could open up the door to Porro securing plenty of game time.
