The best captain for Gameweek 32

We find the best captain for Gameweek 32. With the help of the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can use the season ticker and underlying stats to find the best captaincy option for the Gameweek ahead.

Captaincy is one of the most important decisions a manager can make in fantasy football. Writing up a shortlist of options can be helpful but picking out the best captain for Gameweek 31 can be even more important for FPL managers.

Fixture ticker

Below you can see teams near the top with the easier fixtures, going all the way down the table to teams with the tougher fixtures. The season ticker can be very helpful. However, won’t always give us the full story on which players make the best captaincy options.

The options – Mohamed Salah

Liverpool rank first on the fixture ticker this week. They face Nottingham Forest in Gameweek 32. Liverpool have been inconsistent this season but they have also sustained some very good offensive data. Amongst all teams in the league they rank third best for attempts on goal (456), joint second best for shots in the box (332) and second for big chances total (93).

Their opponents, Nottingham Forest, are struggling to maintain consistency this season. The promoted side also rank joint third worst for goals conceded (54) and third worst for shots in the box (295). This highlights Nottingham Forest as a team to target.

The standout option in the Liverpool attack is Mohamed Salah (£12.8m). The Egyptian has bagged four returns in his last six matches including a 21-point haul, emphasising his explosiveness. Amongst all players in the league Salah ranks joint second for goals scored (five), joint fourth for attempts in the box (17) and joint third for big chances (seven). Salah also takes penalties giving him an additional route to points.

Gabriel Jesus

Arsenal sit at the top of the league. One of the reasons for that is their relentless frontline. Amongst all teams in the league they rank second for goals scored (74), first for shots on target (495), first for shots in the box (342) and second for minutes per chance (six).

Southampton lay ahead for Arsenal. Its been a tough campaign for the Saints as they battle relegation. In their last six matches Southampton have conceded two or more goals in four of their last five games which highlights their defensive fragilities.

One of the many options in the frontline is Gabriel Jesus (£8.1m). The Brazilian has been in great form since starting after returning from injury. Jesus bagged a massive 26 points in his last three starts. He is also the focal point to the Arsenal attack.

Ollie Watkins

Aston Villa have been in fantastic form recently. Chasing European spots they have managed to win five of their last six matches whilst remaining unbeaten. In the same period Aston Villa also netted two or more goals in five of their games.

In a great run of form and confidence Aston Villa face Brentford up next. Not only have Brentford conceded two or more goals in three of their last four matches but amongst all teams in the league this season they rank the worst for shots on target conceded (170).

Brentford concede a lot of shots and there is one player who can take advantage of that. Ollie Watkins (£7.6m) is one of the most in-form players in the league. The penalty taker and focal point to the Aston Villa attack has banked a whopping nine returns in his last 10 matches. Not just this but amongst all players in the last six Gameweeks he ranks first for goals (six), second for attempts on goal (24), first for shots in the box (23) and firs for big chances total (10).

Who is the best captain for Gameweek 32?

Gabriel Jesus and Ollie Watkins are brilliant captaincy options for the Gameweek ahead. However, one of the factors giving Mohamed Salah the edge is the fact he picks up extra points for scoring and keeping a clean sheet. Another contributing factor is that Nottingham Forest are conceding much poorer defensive stats than that of Brentford and Southampton. Taking those factors into account, Mohamed Salah is the best captain for Gameweek 32.
