The AFCON Fantasy Rules
In this article we take a look at the AFCON Fantasy rules over at REALFEVR. We will cover all of the basics with the help of the official website including how to select a squad, captaincy, substitutions and the chips we have available to us.
Covering the AFCON Fantasy rules will be vital to actually playing the game. Knowing how players score points, how captaincy works, what chips are available and more is essential for long-term planning prior and during the tournament.
Firstly, using this link here you can head over to REALFEVR and either log in to a current account or register a new one.
Alternatively, as we can see in the graphic below, you can also download the REALFEVR app on both the APP Store and Google Play.
Autofill team
Instead of handpicking your team just click autofill and the game will select a random team for you. It is best to autofill your team for now until you understand the rules and pick up the knowledge needed to build a good team. Do not worry as we over at Fantasy Football Community will be writing plenty of articles to get you and your team ready for the start of the competition.
Now lets move onto the rules of the game.
Pick a team
When you eventually come to picking a team you can see below that you have to pick two goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders and three forwards. We can also seen that we are allowed just €100m budget until after Gameweeek 3 where we receive an additional €5m.
In addition, managers are allowed to select just three players from each nation but that number increases as competition progresses.
Formation
Mangers can use just the formations listed below.
Substitutions
AFCON Fantasy previously allowed managers to make mid-week substitutions, a bit like in UCL Fantasy. However, this time around the game has changed and we can no longer make substitutions to bring off players who haven’t returned enough points for someone yet to play.
The new substitutes system is extremely similar to the FPL system so many will be able to familiarise themselves with it.
Captaincy
The player we select as our captain will earn double points. Captaincy has also changed this time around. Previously managers could change their captains every day of a Gameweek. However, this time, we can now just captain one player per round, as again like FPL.
This also means that, as mentioned above, if your captain does not feature then your vice captain will take over the main armband and he will earn double points.
How to earn points
Below is a graphic of how your players can earn points throughout the competition. We can see that some of the scoring is very similar to FPL. Although in AFCON Fantasy players are rewarded for different actions like duels won, key passes and shots on target.
Additional clean sheet/assist information
Again, as you can see below the rules are very similar to FPL which is a huge help for those that play the game.
Transfers
Below is how transfers work. Until the first deadline managers will have unlimited transfers to use, then during the Group Stage we are provided with two each. That number changes as the competition progresses as we can see.
One of the most significant details around transfers is the fact that we can only have a maximum of three transfers during the Group Stage due to the rules.
Chips
REALFEVR have provided us with just one chip this time around, the Wildcard. Similar to FPL managers can make as many changes as they like right up until the deadline.
Buying and Selling Players
You will also find a lot of similarities with FPL here.
You can check out all of the players leaving for AFCON and the Asian Cup right here.
