Teams to Target in EURO Fantasy Matchday 2

We continue our coverage of the summer tournament as we take a look at teams to target in EURO Fantasy Matchday 2. We focus on teams who have big potential in the round ahead in regards to investment.

Looking ahead could be a wise move. Knowing the teams to target in EURO Fantasy Matchday 2 can help fantasy managers with lots of different factors from chip strategy to using transfers. So with that in mind let’s dive in.

Croatia

Croatia go into their Matchday 2 fixture as strong favourites against Albania. From topping their recent World Cup Group in the 2022 World Cup and claiming a third place finish to claiming first position in their recent Nations League campaign, Croatia appear unmovable amongst the top teams.

There recent form also makes them appealing – winning all four of their last friendlies prior to the competition against Portugal, North Macedonia, Egypt and Croatia. During that run Croatia also kept three clean sheets and netted nine goals.

Albania lay ahead and they come into the competition reasonably new to the big stage – having failed to reach a World Cup in their history and with it being just their second campaign in the EURO’s. They also finished third in their recent Nations League Group, six points behind Israel.

Portugal

Portugal come into Matchday 2 with an incredible Qualifying record. In fact, Portugal won each and every one of their 10 matches. Whilst there and competing against the likes of Slovakia, Luxembourg and Iceland, Portugal scored a huge 36 goals and conceded just two, the latter helped towards picking up a huge nine clean sheets.

Things have been less convincing since Qualifying however, losing to Croatia and Slovenia but beating Ireland, Finland and Sweden. During those fixtures Portugal racked up a huge 13 goals but just one single clean sheet.

Türkiye are up next for Portugal which could be a great opportunity to invest. Türkiye impressed in their Qualifying Group but prior to the EURO’ they failed to win any of their four friendlies and conceded nine goals in the process.

Belgium

Fan expectations seem to be diminishing after every tournament that Belgium play in these days. Failure to cash in on their ‘Golden Era’ is disappointing but it may also help take some pressure off the upcoming fixtures.

Belgium arguably had tougher competition than other teams in Qualifying – facing off with both Austria and Sweden. But, they made their progression to the final with six wins, two draws, 22 goals scored and five clean sheets from eight matches.

Matchday 2 sees Belgium clash with Romania, a team who although convincing in their Qualifying Group, flopped to bottom of the table in their recent Nations League campaign, finishing level on points with Montenegro but lacking on head-to-head record.

Other teams we could consider

An explosive first match against Scotland saw Germany dismantle their opposition in a 5-1 victory. If they can continue that same electric form then buying into them ahead of Hungary could be rewarding.

Denmark could be their toughest opposition in the Group but England should have the edge going into this. Denmark have shown huge inconsistencies in recent tournaments, their most recent World Cup was one example.
