Sky Fantasy expert first draft
The new season is just on the horizon so we take a look at a Sky Fantasy expert first draft. Fantasy Football and Fantasy Football Community contributor @FFScout_Tom comes in to provide his first draft and thoughts surrounding it.
Checking out a Sky Fantasy expert first draft can be very useful to other managers. Tom finished with a rank of 387th and 87th in the world at the end of the last two seasons so his insight could very extremely beneficial when it comes to decision making in our own teams.
Introduction
In this article, I will take you through my first Sky Fantasy draft and the rationale behind each pick. It must be said, with just under three weeks until the deadline, the following team is very much subject to change.
If you have never played Sky Fantasy Football before, I would highly recommend it. The game rewards research and planning far more than FPL due to its daily deadlines and more complex points system. Plus, you have a genuine chance of winning £50,000!
Expert first draft
Goalkeeper
David Raya racked up 211 points last season, if Mark Flekken can threaten that number he will prove to be incredible value at £6.9m. The German keeper is currently between my Sky Fantasy sticks!
With the transfer window still open, Dean Henderson is someone I’m watching very closely. Priced at just £6.6m, if he gets a move to Nottingham Forest he would be cheap cover for their three confirmed single-game days.
Defenders
The first name on my Sky Fantasy team sheet? Lewis Dunk, yes you read that right! The Brighton captain is massively under-priced at just £8.2m. Last season he completed more passes than any other player. Tier 2 passing (3 points) is virtually given every week in De Zerbi’s system, meaning he effectively starts each game on five points. I may well captain him on the Saturday of GW1 versus Luton.
Trent Alexander Arnold and Oleksandr Zinchenko make up the rest of my back three. The Liverpool premium defender added regular passing-tier points to his armoury following his move into midfield at the end of last season. This, alongside regular clean sheets and attacking returns, makes him a strong pick. Zinchenko provides Arsenal cover for their strong early fixtures and captaincy cover for their single game day on the Monday of GW2.
Midfielders
A Man Utd asset is essential due to their single game day on the Monday of GW1. I’ve gone with Marcus Rashford on the back of his brilliant goal-scoring form last season. Following on with the single game day theme, Morgan Gibbs White makes my team as captaincy coverage for Forest’s Friday night game in GW2 versus Sheffield United. He then could be moved on for Levi Colwill on Sunday 13th August, which in turn would provide cover for Chelsea’s single game day versus Luton in GW3.
One of my favourite Sky Fantasy assets, Rodri also makes my draft. The Spaniard, like Dunk, almost always picks up Tier 2 passing to guarantee five points. He also chips in with the odd attacking return and provides a backup captain option in the event of a surprise Haaland benching.
To complete the midfield, I’ve picked two cheap enablers Yves Bissouma and Boubacar Kamara. The former seems to be Postecoglou’s number six of choice. If indeed he turns out to be a starter, passing and tackle points look like a very real possibility. Meanwhile, Kamara from Villa started last season with a streak of tackle-tier points. At just £6.7m, any return represents amazing value.
Forwards
To the surprise of no one, Erling Haaland is in. Despite his price rise to £12.0m, the Friday night single-game day in GW1 makes him a must-have. Selected by over 75% of managers, he is someone I’m not leaving out!
Alongside the Norwegian is Harry Kane. The Englishman’s inclusion is by no means a certainty but, for me, he’s the best captain for the Sunday of GW1 with his game against Brentford. He blanked in just five out of the 38 games last season.
That concludes my first draft reveal! Thanks for reading and happy tinkering. Good luck!
